I'm a marine biologist currently working as an Assistant Avian Biologist in the Fort Lauderdale Area. I graduated in 2013 with a bachelor's degree in biology at the University of Washington and since then have had several jobs in biology related fields.

Fish Health Technician

Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife

Collected fish tissue samples for health examination from fish held at hatcheries on the Willamette and Columbia River system. Processed samples and assisted with conducting microbiological tests (ELISA and DFAT) screening for renibacterium salmoninarum (bacterial kidney disease). Dissected fish for tissue collection of juveniles sent into the lab and processed heads to be screened for myxobolus cerebralis (whirling disease).

Field Technician

Bird Search Northwest

Conducted behavioral and productivity observations, monitored colony size, ground surveys to determine nesting and foraging distribution, leg banding and satellite telemetry to document inter-colony movement and foraging patterns of Caspian terns. Operated ATV's and motorboats. Participated in aerial surveys.

Fisheries Observer

Techsea International, Inc

Working aboard Hawaiian based pelagic longline vessels targeting tuna and swordfish. Collecting fisheries data for NMFS including: protected species interactions, fishing effort, species composition of catch, vessel fishing gear type, biological sampling, and compliance with regulations.

GIS Intern

Portland Parks & Recreation

GIS data entry and geocoding. Analyzing the City of Portland plantings over the past several years, with a focus on whether and to what extent the city is meeting its goals of equitably extending forest benefits to Portland residents living in low income and low canopy areas.
