Welcome to my narrative project!
This project is made for my DTC 355 class at WSUV.
For this project we were required to build a site that tells a story. The story idea I had was to retell Cinderella with a bit of a twist ending. (I always wondered what would have happened if she hadn't married someone who only recognized her by her shoe size.) I really wanted to draw for this project, so I decided to make illustrations of some of the main scenes and try to replicate a kid-friendly feel with crayon-like textures and messy coloring. I was unsure if I wanted to add text, so ended up making audio voice overs to tell the story instead (and it seemed easier at the time). I felt that this would potentially be a good alternative for children who can't read as well.
I had a lot of fun with this project after incoorperating something I enjoy doing (drawing), but I also struggled a lot.
My first main struggle was working skrollr and trying to transition slides into eachother in a coherent manner and just in general. It was really painful when I wanted to add more things but realized I would have to rearrange my scroll frames.
My second main struggle was adding audio. Originally, I wanted to have the audio automatically play when the frame came into view. However, I was unable to figure that out and ended up finding that an adjustable audio clip (volume, play, pause) may be a better option as well since automatic audio can be obtrusive. I also had trouble placing the audio boxes. I originally had them in the same area, but they ended up stacking and I could only play one clip.
Things I would like to change or modify in the future would be to possibly add more frames (I accidentally saved over one), as well as decorate the audio boxes and add music. Overall my struggles seemed to have made this project all the more worthwhile and I hope you enjoy it!
