The skaters built the skatepark without the city's permission. As the park gained popularity, the city started to take notice. The skaters realized that they needed to cooperate with the city council. So that they can keep the park alive.

Established in 1999, WSVT skatepark is a hidden gem in the city of San Diego. The intent of the creation of the skatepark was to have a creative outlet made by the local skaters.
FDR Skatepark

Established in 1996, FDR skatepark started with a few small obstacles built by the city of Philadelphia to create a growing community. It's now a skatepark that many from around the world visit.
