About this project

Overview

This is the story of two gamblers. It is a media driven recount of a roadtrip adventure to help a best friend purchase a car, "Sight Unseen". It uses written, and visual media to recount the events that took place and the story of which both won't forget.

Details

The majority of this project was captured using an Iphone 6 through the use of photos and videos in addition to a linked twitter. Photos captured were shared via social media, and the videos were re-constituted into a remix/compilation of the trip.

Conceptual Framework

My project is about the eventful roadtrip I took with my best friend from highschool to buy a rare-ish car "Sight Unseen" from a online car buying source. It was a gamble and potentially risky having never seen the car beforehand. We flew out on a very early 4am flight Wednesday morning from Portland, Or to St.Paul, Mn with a deadline of making it back early Friday morning for a test that I need to be in class for. Along the way I had started to document the adventure, which immmediatly turn out for the worse as within 30 minutes of buying the car, it had broken down. The project in whole, is about adventure of this gamble and the roadtrip back.

Artistic Statement

I wanted to film a dual gamble adventure between two friends to highlight the brash irresponsibility and beauty of friends...

Self Reflection

Looking back through trial and error, I learned what boundaries I have in my capabilites to do things. IE: My initial ambition outweighed my abilites in what I can do in the program. I am ambitious, which I think is good, but I need to remember my limitations. Storytelling will always be an aspect in my future and career, as all presented digital media has a story behind the creators mind.
I wanted to do more in this project, but I got way ahead of myself in the fact that I did't have the time to learn what I wanted to do (make a game) outside of what I was learning and working on (other projects) in other classes. This was a good experience to know limitations and to keep things simple, in ways.
