Language: Consists of verbal sounds spoken by humans to represent abstract thoughts and depends on the culture

Theory Introduction:

  • Language is dynamic in a constant state of change to address shifting demands

  • Spoken language was made to challenge the acoustic space to express abstract thought through proto speech

  • Every language has to have some form of symbolic characters, agreed upon by the community to create a new alphabet language

  • Need for another person to communicate = together

  • Language determination: Language determines the way we think by our interactions

Language relativity: distinctions encoded in one language are not found in any other language

    The POWER of SPEECH

"Words can be like x-rays if you use them properly...they will go through anything." Aldous Huxley

Language has the power to persuade, entertain and inform people in new directions.

The Importance of this technology to my project and why we should care:

Language is an important way of communication and projection on YouTube to promote and broadcast yourself. We can learn from each other to become better pet owners and better overall human beings by caring for another life rather than our own. When we subscribe to a YouTube channel, join a Facebook group we are promoting the content creation of that language used. A further creation of ideas can be easily shared by guidelines agreed upon by the community to bring back to their tribal family.

Writing: Consists of individual character strokes with a keyboard, writing utensil or substance onto a surface

    Theory Introduction:

  • Previous Cultures Languages can now be recorded, documented and preserved

  • Speaker and speech are separated in printing space

  • Reading the stories and voices of others in our own head

  • Personal Interaction = alone

  • Confirmed and extended technology of visual literacy

  • Writing can also be considered an exploration of language

  • Text Resource: "Thinking with type" for any content from Week 7: Printing Space

Typefaces are an essential resource to graphic designers, web developers and any digital artist who wants to use typography in their projects.

Printed words originated from human gestures in Calligraphy, evolved into typefaces and human machine made organic geometric and abstract systems of the human body.

  • Industrialization and mass consumption in the 19th century came with the explosion of advertising, a new form of communication and the need for new typefaces

  • In digital media, texts are typically broken into chunks that can be accessed by search engines or hypertext links

  • Text Resource: Into the Electronic Millennium from week 6 Speech vs Writing Space

    Berkits Argument:

Reading will be gone within the next generation.

The opportunity to read, pause, reflect, memorize, reflect some more will disappear. unspoken invitations to reflect on his thesis, offer anthical rebuttal and synthesize new deepen understanding of our own relationships to printed and the electronic world.

    New thoughts:

People have learned to adapt to the changing medium that they prefer. Although books are vital for learning, it is just one way of exchanging ideas and not the ultimate authority. People are becoming more mobile as technology advances and prefer to skim text on webpages in the F-shaped reading pattern. We grasp the main concepts from text and language and interpret these new ideas based on the body of knowledge from our past experiences.

The Importance of this technology to my project and why we should care:

Writing develops online communities for bodies of knowledge to be spread amongst its community members who might be able to reach their specific broadcaster. Other community members can notice and respond to our posts in a friendly accepting environment. Social media platforms like Twitter, Facebook and Youtube allow for comments, posting and sharing of written content to the public. The use of visual symbols can represent an idea like an emote is to an image and is powerful to visual design asthetics. People care about typography no matter the interface! Making users satisfied with the countless hours they could spend the interface the least we could do is make the content worth reading.

Computers: A multimedia device that records a series of inputs and outputs, usually using lights

    Theory Introduction:

  • Computers are able to change cultures for better or worse depending on man made creations of content

  • Computers are a new technology that are only limited to our creative imagination

  • Computers are designed for humans to repeatedly perform the same action using coded algorithms by the designers

  • The internet made the possibilities for the internet have no boundaries

  • The Importance of this technology to my project and why we should care:

Computers combine language and writing to break past boundaries seen in the past. People are able to publish content on the internet and have thousands of followers interacting with their content. Digital Communities are built upon common intrest of each individual person. We can create our own digital avatar and enter a new world in Virtual Reality. We have to navigate this world whether we want to or not as Digital Technology and Culture Majors, as the field is always evolving and expanding to new horizons.
