Alexander McQueen

Born Lee Alexander McQueen Alexander McQueen on March 17, 1960 -- he dropped the "Lee" with the advice from Isabella Blow, his patron. Alexander was rebellious, he dismissed anyone who did not approve of his design work, and he even dropped his pants after his 1995 show and mooned the audience. McQueen took inspiration from historical events and implemented the frutiful ideas that came from this into his collections. The looks that McQueen sent stomping down the runway were always delicate, intrinsic, and often people either loved his work, or they detested it. McQueen had a fascination with birds, as he was intrigued by how they flew freely. Unfortunately, McQueen's mother died in 2010; many believe this is what triggered Alexander to kill himself on February 11, 2010. The fashion world was in shock; they had truly lost a gem. The label carried on and presented his final collection, which was already 80% complete. McQueen was succeeded by his colleague Sarah Burton.
