Privacy Policy

CPWR — The Center for Construction Research and Training (CPWR) and Washington State University Vancouver (WSU) recognize the importance of protecting the privacy of our visitors, as well as those who request information or advice from CPWR or WSU.

Data collection and storage

In order to fulfill government grant guidelines and track the usage of our S-CAT website, we collect and store only the following information about the visit

  • The name of the domain from which visitors access the Internet, such as aol.com or cdc.gov, and IP address. An IP address is a number automatically assigned to a computer when surfing the Web.
  • The date and time a visitor accesses our site and the time the visitor logs off.
  • The pages that the visitor views.
  • The Internet address of the website last viewed by the visitor before coming to our site.

The S-CAT web pages use persistent “cookies” to store information about site usage. We only use the information to [1] create summary statistics so that we can determine what information is of the most interest to our visitors, [2] help us enhance the site’s quality and usefulness, and [3] report site usage to the agencies that fund our organization. We do not collect your name, your email address or other identifying information. In no case does CPWR or WSU disclose, give, sell, or transfer any personal information of website visitors unless required for law enforcement or otherwise required by law. The S-CAT website contains links to other sites. When you link to any of these sites, you are no longer on this website and are subject to the privacy policy of the new site.

Company Level Report

We offer companies the opportunity to use the S-CAT with their employees to generate a company-level report.  To respond to these requests we will need a contact person’s email address, but we do not enter that address into a database.  When a company wants a company-level S-CAT, we need to know the company’s name so we can generate a unique identifying code for the employees to use when taking the S-CAT. We use that code to be able to aggregate all the data from that company and generate the company-level report.  The report is shared only with the company contact person.

Aside from being used to generate the one-time company report, company specific information will not be collected, stored, or shared.  Benchmark data is an aggregate of all S-CAT responses in the database.  No attempt is ever made to connect individuals with their responses.
