With the onset of WWII, women joined the workforce in masses to fill the manufacturing needs of the war. Rosie the Riveter became a symbol of this involvement.

Credit Union Milestones
Vancouver Teachers’ Credit Union was formed. Edith Hendrie became the first president. She conducted business through her home where she kept the records in a shoe box under her bed.

The Slinky became an instant hit, originally priced at $1.

Remember When?
The Kaiser Shipyard at Ryan Point in Vancouver, WA, produced numerous cargo ships and escort carriers for use in the war.

Elvis Presley, the King of Rock and Roll, captivated audiences everywhere.

In 1950, the Credit Union offered its first car loan.

  Not for profit, not for charity, but for service.

In 1955, the Credit Union moved under the stairwell in the Vocational Building, and in 1956, the Credit Union hired their first full-time employee, Frances “Frankie” Johnson.

Sasquatch was reportedly sighted at Beacon Rock State Park, WA.

In 1966, the charter and name changed to Clark County School Employees Credit Union (CCSECU).

In 1964, the Beatles arrived in America.

Don Clark became Manager in 1961 and the Credit Union opened its first permanent facility on Evergreen Blvd, a joint purchase with two other Credit Unions. It was called the “Credit Union Center.”

In 1963, Martin Luther King Jr. delivered his famous “I Have a Dream” speech to a crowd of over 250,000 people.

Disco captivated the United States, as disco songs topped the charts.

By 1970, the Credit Union had 3,718 members. In the 70s, the Credit Union was granted Federal Deposit Insurance.

The Pet Rock, a “toy” that was perhaps the biggest fluke of the 20th century, was created in 1975 by Gary Dahl, who packaged smooth rocks from a Mexican beach in tiny cardboard pet carriers.

In 1976, the Credit Union was the first state-chartered credit union to be granted “share draft” approval, meaning their members could have checking accounts.

The Credit Union implemented Visa and Dial-a-Rate, and started offering Financial Planning. The first ATM was installed in 1988 at the new Vancouver Mall Branch.

The Maplewood (which later became Fisher’s Landing) and Salmon Creek branches were opened.

In the 1990s, the Credit Union introduced the VIP TellerPhone Audio System. In 1993, it introduced the Desktop Computer Branch, and in 1996 added Bill Pay.

Since the Read With Me program's inception in 1997, more than 66,451 books have been handed out to young readers across Southwest Washington.

The Credit Union added the Hazel Dell and Battle Ground branches and opened our first of six campus branches. Its field of membership expanded from Clark County to include Cowlitz, Klickitat, Pacific, Skamania and Wahkiakum.

In 1995, the Credit Union became one of the first in its area to offer information on the Internet with its own web page.

Google was founded in 1998. Also in the late nineties, the countdown to Y2K began. The “millennium bug” made the year 2000 indistinguishable from 1900 in both digital and analog computers.

Crocs became a fashion trend, and people of all ages began to wear them.

In 2003, field of membership was changed to include anyone who lives, works, attends school or worships in the state of Washington. That is part of the reason why in 2004, the name was changed to iQ Credit Union.

In April of 2005, iQ Credit Union merged with members of City Employees of Clark County Federal Credit Union, combining the resources of two credit unions with strong roots in the community.
