Marshall House

Marshall House
Constructed in 1886, The Marshal House became home to General George C. Marshall in the late 1930s. From his post in Vancouver, George C. Marshall commanded the 3rd Infantry Division and Vancouver Barracks.

Storehouse

Storehouse
The Spruce Mill Division Records Storehouse was constructed in 1914 and was used as the primary supplier of wooden aircraft frames for Great Britain, France, and Italy during WWI.

Infantry Barracks

The Infantry Barracks was constructed in 1887 and housed Company B of the 24th United States Infantry Regiment. Company B (also known as the Buffalo Soldiers) were one of six African American cavalry and infantry regiments in the United States.

Post Hospital

Post Hospital
The Post Hospital was constructed in 1884 and housed over 2,500 patients a month at the height of WWI in 1918. The Post Hospital was also a vital outpost for new military recruits, who were examined and divided into regiments for use in the war.

Howard House

Howard House
Constructed in 1879, the O.O. Howard house was home to Civil War General Oliver Otis Howard. O.O. Howard was a strong advocate for the integration of freed slaves, which helped draw some of the first African American settlements to the Pacific Northwest.

Grant House

Grant House
The Grant House was constructed in 1849 by local military troops and was used as the commander’s home, officers’ club, and dormitories. While this house may be named after President Ulysses S. Grant, he never actually stayed here.
