The Capstone Project Explained: Exploring a Social/Cultural Topic
The Capstone Project is the final project for this course that encapsulates what you have learned throughout the semester. For this project, you are asked to create a three page HTML site that explores a social/cultural topic that includes your two media objects embedded on the pages (12 points).

Media Object #1: This media object must be newly generated by you (12 points). For example, you can create vectored imagery you drew yourself for an infographic or an animation you produced from scratch. Your newly generated media object could be one of the following:
Infographic file (at least 1200 x 800 – height x width pixels) – exported as a png and properly linked on your HTML site.
or
Animation (1 min. sec. – 1:30 min. long) – must be uploaded to Vimeo and embedded on your HTML site.

Media Object #2: Your second media object should be a remix or mash-up of several video files (12 points).
Remixed video (2 mins – 2:30 mins. long) – must be uploaded to Vimeo and embedded on your HTML site.

You are expected to demonstrate appropriate knowledge of Fair Use, copyright, and attribution to the artists from whom you have borrowed the material. Create a work cited list for each media object and include it on the page with the linked media object or on a separate work cited page. Note that I am allowing you to use copyrighted videos in your remix, but you must use Creative Commons or your own imagery within your website.

You will also produce for this site, a 250-word artist’s statement that articulates what you are trying to say about your chosen topic with your website (2 points). Also, you will present your Capstone Project for 3 minutes and discuss your media objects (4 points). In sum, your Capstone Project should demonstrate an understanding of how to incorporate multiple media objects into one environment and present an aesthetically-pleasing site that reflects the idea about your chosen topic that you wish to make with these media objects.

The Capstone Project is due on Thursday, April 22nd at your Section 01 or 02 class time. Capstone Project must be submitted via the class OneDrive. Presentations of Capstone Projects will start promptly on April 22nd, 27th, & 29th at your Section 01 or 02 class time.
