I opted to do a job profile for my final project. I wanted to capture a different side of the Vancouver Police Department, not just a patrol officer, or a police chief but rather someone who doesn’t fit into that view of traditional police work. I ended up interviewing two subjects, the department’s Public Information Coordinator, Kim Kapp, and one of the Traffic Sergeants, Therese Kubala. While Kapp had a position that gave a unique view of the department, Kubala’s work was something that fell into that traditional work I tried to avoid. After some thought, I ended up keeping mainly because of her engaging introduction into police work, and the interesting points that she made during the interview. I also feel that her inclusion in the video helps give two perspectives of police work; one that works to inform the public, and one that works to protect the public.
