DTC 356 – Spring 2012 Electronic Research and the Rhetoric of Information

9Jan/12Off

1st Steps with WordPress

After you have completed the previous assignment and emailed me the information, I will set up a WordPress blog for you. WordPress is a fairly simple blogging platform, but if you are new to it, all of the options can seem a little daunting. That is O.K.

To help you get your bearings with WordPress, I suggest you choose one of the following three approaches.

First Day of Class (Important)

Welcome to DTC 356. I'm glad you have chosen to enroll. Much of the work we will do in this course will be done though the DTC WordPress server. This blog will be where you get the information you need to complete your assignments. In addition, you will each maintain an individual blog where you will reflect on the assigned readings and turn in your essays and projects. In order to get these blogs set up, I am going to need a little bit of information from each of you. So, here in class (or absolutely as soon as possible if you were not able to attend the first class session.) please send an email to schiller@vancouver.wsu.edu with ALL of the following information.

Send email to: schiller@vancouver.wsu.edu

Information in the email body:

<Your Name>

<your preferred email address>

<the name you want your blog to have>
Your blog's URL will be http://dtc-wsuv.org/wp/***********

Once I have received this email, I will set up your blog ASAP. You will receive an email from the blog server to the address you specify. If you do not see this email, please check your spam filter and once you've verified that the message isn't there, send an additional email to me and I will look into the matter.
