“Rey” booted up and sitting in my home library before its move to ELL

What a computer. A Christmas gift from my tech guru Greg Philbrook for ELL. An opaque white iBook G4 laptop, circa early 2004, comes with 1.0 GHz CPU speed and 640 MB of Memory. It runs System 10.4.11, the last OS for Tiger (the OS released in 2005) but the first one to work on the Apple-Intel architecture. It’s the last one of the System Xs compatible with Mac OS 9. It is because it can run both operating systems that the computer is an important addition to the lab.

In keeping with the naming convention of the computers in ELL (which, if you did not check out ELL’s catalog, follows the names of Star Wars characters), I have named it “Rey.” She is obviously a Jedi and certainly a hero, as this iBook will be for my research.
