When it comes to owning parrots, something that many new parrot owners should be aware of is the fact that parrots have a very long lifespan compared to other pets such as cats or dogs. Because of their long lifespan, it means that you, the owner, must be prepared to provide them proper care for their entire life. It is also possible that parrots will outlive their owners, meaning that you must provide adequate care should they outlive you.
