Assignment: This project was created as part of an assignment to design a narrative-driven website. The goal was to develop an interactive and engaging story while applying web design skills.
Idea: I chose a detective story called "Traces in the Dark" where readers become young investigators trying to solve the mystery of a missing trophy. I wanted to make the experience interactive by allowing users to make decisions that influence the outcome.
Process and Challenges: While creating the site, I focused on achieving a consistent style, keeping the layout stable across pages, and making sure everything looked good on different devices. One of the challenges was ensuring that the page structure, images, and buttons stayed the same size to create the feeling of reading a real digital book. I also worked hard on making smooth transitions between pages and keeping the design clear and simple.
Special Effects: I wanted the final page of the story to feel special, so I added a fireworks animation with sound effects. To achieve this, I learned how to integrate JavaScript into the project. The fireworks start automatically after the user solves the mystery, creating a celebratory ending for the reader.
Outcome: This project helped me practice digital storytelling, improve my HTML, CSS, and JavaScript skills, and create an immersive interactive story. I'm proud of how it turned out and excited to continue developing projects like this in the future.
