TAKOYAKI

A delicious Japanese street food that originated in Osaka. Crispy outer crust with a creamy rich savory inside.

Ingredients

Batter:

  • 100 g cake flour
  • 1 tsp soy sauce
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 340 ml cold water
  • 1 egg - beaten

Filling:

  • 80 g boiled octopus - cut into bite size pieces
  • 2 tbsp bonito powder (optional)
  • 2 tbsp benishouga (pickled ginger)
  • 2 stalks spring onion - chopped finely
  • 4 tbsp tenkasu (fried tempura flour)

Toppings:

  • takoyaki sauce
  • Japanese mayonaise - Kewpie
  • aonori (green seaweed flakes)
  • katsuobushi (bonito flakes)
