Habitable

The date is September 18th, 2652. You find yourself alone in a small United Nations spaceship named the UNSS Final Frontier. Over the past 32 years, you've been travelling throughout the milky way searching for promising exoplanetary systems that can support human life. The situation on earth has become dire. Rapid and irreversible change in the Earth's climate has caused widespread extreme droughts, famines, population displacement, and poverty. In addition, the planet has become polluted to such a point, that the air is now toxic to breathe. In an attempt to save the human population, you and 10 other warp-drive powered small spaceships were sent out in different directions, in hopes of finding a habitable exoplanet for the human population to migrate to. The habitable exoplanet must contain water, food sources, and a breathable atmosphere.
[[Examine your spaceship]]After much deliberation, you decide that your best chance is to check out the warmer planet that's closer to the life-sustaining star. You input the planet into the ship's navigation and the ship blasts forward at warp speed. Within minutes, the ship arrives in orbit.
[[Examine Poseixos-b]] After much thought, you decide to check out the planet that's not too close to the life-sustaining star. You input the planet into the ship's navigation and the ship blasts forward at warp speed. Within minutes, the ship arrives in orbit.
[[Examine Poseixos-c]] The life scanner screen shows the detection of life signs on both of the terrestrial exoplanets that are located within the habitable zone of the system. "Is this actually real life?", you think to yourself. "I've been traversing the Milky Way for 32 years and haven't come across a single planet with life, but now there are 2 life-sustaining planets in 1 system? What are the chances of that?!"

You look out the windshield of your spaceship as the planet comes into full view. You are taken aback by what you see. The planet contains an enormous ocean that blankets the vast majority of the planet and a single continent that is engulfed in a red color. As you get closer, you realize that the red color stems from the expansive forests that cover the continent. Numerous narrow rivers snake their way through these forests. You ready yourself to set foot on the planet by packing your issued survival items into a large pack.

Finally, the bland looking Poseixos-c comes into full view. The planet is a dull greyish-beige color due to the rocky landmasses that cover a majority of the planet. Poseixos-c also contains ice caps on the southern and northern poles of the planet. Both ice caps have large portions of land that lie underneath them. You prepare your survival pack as you get ready to set foot on the planet. You also prepare your oxygen tank in case it's needed. Poseixos-c has a thinner atmosphere and slightly less oxygen than earth. So, better to be safe than sorry.

[[Fly towards the ocean]] You slowly walk towards one of the orange patches. As you near it, you see that the patch is actually composed of millions of tiny immobile organisms that are grouped tightly together. What a fascinating find, you wonder how they could possibly survive in such a harsh environment. You continue to walk towards the organisms. As you get within 10 feet of them, you suddenly hear a shrill "eeking" sound seemingly emanating from within the patch. It's as if these little organisms can sense you.
[[Pick up some of the tiny organisms and test them as a food source]]

You fly towards the ocean. As you look out the windshield you can see that it's greyish blue in color with numerous red outcroppings jutting out into the shore. You can also see that this ocean has waves that are smaller than any of the oceans back on earth, likely due to the fact this planet's moon is smaller.
[[Land near the ocean]]
[[Fly towards the forests and rivers]] You trust your hunch that "Poseixos-c" is the sole planet in the planetary system that is habitable enough for long-term survival of the human population. Originally, the other planet "Poseixos-b", looked like the smart pick with its expansive forests and ocean. However, you picked up on some of the clues that the planet may contain something that would greatly endanger the human population. You set up the navigation system to travel back to earth and you start recording all the information about "Poseixos-c" into the computer just in case you pass away before the ship arrives to Earth.
[[Continue to Epilogue->Continue to Epilogue3]]After much deliberation, you decide to travel back to Earth and inform the human population about your discovery of the planet "Poseixos-b" and its suitability for mass migration. You feel that the other planet "Poseixos-c" has too harsh of an environment. Whereas, "Poseixos-b" seems to have more pleasant and earth-like environment. You set up the navigation system to travel back to earth and you start recording all the information you learned about "Poseixos-b" into the computer just in case you pass away before the ship arrives to Earth.

A flashing notification alerts you about the detection of habitable exoplanets found orbiting around the nearby red dwarf star "Poseixos". A total of 5 planets are found in the system, two of them are positioned within the habitable zone. The first planet is positioned near the inner edge of the habitable zone and has a small moon orbiting it. The second planet is positioned towards the outer edge of the habitable zone. You rub your eyes to make sure this isn't just some futile daydream. As you reopen your eyes, you see that the habitable exoplanets are still there. The moment feels surreal as you begin trembling with excitement at the thought of possibly saving the human population and fulfilling your life's mission.]
[[Check the life scanner ]]
Your single-person spacecraft is about 25 meters in length. It contains the bare necessities to sustain long-term travel such as a self-sustaining hydroponic, life support, and a liquid recycling system. The navigation system is set to halt warp speed travel every 4 hours so that the life-scanner can activate and scan surrounding star systems. But after 32 years of coming across nothing even remotely close to habitable, you've started wondering if it even works.
[[Eat some food]]
[[Go to sleep]]
You sigh as you check your food stockpile. After 32 years in space, your only remaining food option is the small variety of vegetables that are grown via the ship's hydroponics system. Welp, looks like its salad for the millionth time in a row. However, just as you sit down and take your first bite, the navigation system begins beeping urgently.
[[Check the Navigation System]]
[[Ignore it]] A deep sigh escapes your lips as you enter your sleeping quarters and crawl into bed. "11,680 days in space, and for what? Still haven't found a damn thing..." You grumble as you close your eyes and slowly drift off into sleep. However, your dreams are rudely interrupted all of a sudden by a repetitive beeping noise from the navigation system.
[[Check the Navigation System]]
[[Ignore it]]"Surely another false life scanner alarm", you think to yourself. However, unlike the usual false alarm, the beeping still persists 30 seconds later. A slight sense of hope creeps up in you, can it really be?

It looks even more unappetizing once cooked. It's all shriveled up and a bunch of liquid oozes out of it. You take a small bite out of it. You think to yourself "hmm, doesn't taste half bad...kind of like a mushroom jello." You finish eating the rest of the blob. A few minutes later you begin convulsing severely. As the organism wreaks havoc on your body, you realize that the organism is toxic, and you have made a bad choice by eating it. Within seconds, your heart stops beating, and you pass away.
[[Death]] You decide it would be too dangerous to eat this organism, so you throw it back into the river.
[[Leave and walk towards the forest->Investigate the surrounding forest organisms]]
[[Walk back to the ship]] You walk towards the black circular objects. As you get near them, you notice that they are actually 2-meter wide stone hatches built into the ice cap. This is an interesting find, since it indicates that they were built by an intelligent organism of some kind. You're deeply curious about what's underneath these hatches.
[[Try opening the hatches]]
[[Walk away from the objects and explore the rest of the ice cap instead->Explore the ice cap]]
[[Walk back to the spaceship]] You make your way to the narrow strip of grey soil that lies within the canyon. As you get near it, you see a very surprising sight. There looks to be life forms all over the place. You see a huge variety of bizarre plants poking out from below the ground and a large number of animals that look like big fur balls rolling in and out of underground burrows. Now this is truly a sight to see.
[[Check out some of the plants]]
[[Get closer to the animals and check out their burrows]]
[[Walk towards the other canyon to explore the body of water->Explore the body of water]] You walk closer towards the tiny organisms. As you get within a foot of the patch, the shrill "eeking" sound ceases. Huh, seems as if the tiny organisms are playing dead. You take out your portable stove and then break off some of the organisms from the rest of the group. The organisms remain dead silent. You toss them into your portable stove and wait a few minutes for them to cook. After a few minutes, you take them out of the stove and start to eat them. Wow! Not only are they perfectly edible, but they also taste delicious. What a pleasant and unexpected surprise. Looks like these organisms have high potential for being used as a food source for the human population.

As you get near them, the furball-looking animals immediately roll into their burrows. You shrug and then continue your way towards the plants. As you approach them, you start to visually sort through the plants. With such a large number of varieties, you don't even know where to start. There are thin stick-like plants, gigantic bulbous plants, upwards spiraling spring-like plants, along with numerous other varieties. The gigantic bulbous plants look like they may likely be the most edible kind though.
[[Dig up the gigantic bulbous plants]]
[[Get closer to the animals and check out their burrows]]
[[Walk towards the other canyon to explore the body of water->Explore the body of water]]
You start walking over to the burrows of the fur ball animals. You kick it around a little bit. They don't seem to respond in any way. However, just as you turn around to walk in a different direction, one of the small furball animals suddenly bursts out of the burrow and slices through your leg. Before you could react, it had already rolled back into the deep burrow.
[[Check for damage]]You start panicking as you notice the heavy blood less from your right leg. It must've nicked an artery.
[[Run back to the ship to use the onboard deluxe all-purpose first aid kit]]
[[Check your pack for a makeshift tourniquet that you could use]]You rush back towards the ship, but unfortunately the blood loss was too heavy. You collapse on to the ground and bleed out to death before you could make it back.
[[Death]] You quickly shift through your pack. The only possible candidate you find is a large survival belt.
[[Use the survival belt as a makeshift tourniquet]]
[[Run back to the ship to use the onboard deluxe all-purpose first aid kit]] You firmly tie the survival belt around your right leg. The bleeding seems to have slowed down greatly.
[[Go back to the ship to recover for a few days]]You limp your way back to the ship. Upon arrival, you use your deluxe first aid kit on the large wound. You never want to step foot on that blasted narrow strip of grey soil again, after that horrifying experience. After a few days of rest, you feel recovered enough to continue exploring.

You step onto the lift and it immediately starts going downward beneath the ice cap. After a few long minutes of going nowhere but down, the lift suddenly stops. Straight ahead you see an opening into some kind of underground building.
[[Enter the underground building]]
[[Take the lift back up to the surface]]
You land near the ocean. As you step outside you ship, you take a deep breath of air. You think to yourself "wow, the ocean has the same exact smell of brine and salt as the oceans back on earth do." Nostalgic memories from your time on earth creep into your mind. After a brief moment of remembrance, you ready yourself to explore the place.
[[Explore the shore]]
[[Swim in and explore beneath the ocean]]
You fly towards the north pole since it is the nearest and largest icy landmass that can be explored. As you approach the ice cap, you see very large glaciers that line the entire outer ice cap. You also find a bizarre sight as your ship nears the pole. There are a lot of black circular objects spread out all across the ice cap. You wonder what these mysterious objects could possibly be. They are very hard to see from this high up though, so you'll have to land to get a closer look.
[[Land on the ice cap]]
[[Fly towards one of the rocky landmasses]]
You fly towards one of the numerous rocky landmasses that cover the planet. The landmass starts to look even more uninteresting as you get closer to the surface. Throughout the landscape, there seems to be nothing but boring beige rock. The only visual difference being the altitude of the rocky land. You have a hard time imagining how anything could possibly live on such a landmass. But there is no way to be sure until you've landed and explored the place.
[[Land on the rocky terrain]]
[[Fly towards the pole]] You walk your way towards the body of water. It looks to be a very wide and shallow lake with completely clear water and it's very easy to see the bottom of the lake. You think about possibly swimming in it to search for new organisms since it would be fairly easy to spot them in the very shallow and transparent water.
[[Swim around the lake looking for organisms of any kind]]
[[Walk towards the other canyon to investigate the narrow strip of grey soil->Investigate the narrow strip of grey soil]]Upon concluding your exploration of the planets, you deem both "Poseixos-b" and "Poseixos-c" unsuitable for the human population to migrate to. You power on the warp drive and exit the planetary system to continue exploring the Milky Way for a more habitable planet.
[[Continue to Epilogue]]You decide to walk and explore the shore. Who knows, maybe there might be some interesting organisms along the way. As you walk further down, the rocky outcroppings give way to a beach of sorts with red shifting sands. Numerous strange and fascinating skeletal remains of both large and small creatures line the sands. You begin wondering what might have caused the death of such a large amount of animal organisms. In addition, you see the outline of a few strange peculiar trees growing out of the sands quite a ways further down the beach.
[[Take a closer look at some of the skeletal remains]]
[[Take a closer look at the trees]]
You decide to swim and explore beneath the ocean while it's still visible outside. You take the scuba gear out of your pack and put it on. After checking the compressor, you deem yourself ready to go. The water is surprisingly warm as you ease yourself in. As you explore around you notice that there are no animals of any kind. However, once you get deeper, you discover that the ocean floor is teaming with a multitude of extremely colorful plant and fungi-like organisms of high variation. There's so many of them that the bottom of the ocean floor isn't visible at all.
[[Pick out a variety of these organisms to take back to shore and further examine them]]
[[Explore further into the sea to try and find animal-like organisms]]
You walk to the river and test the water with your water test kit. It tests negative, indicating that there are no harmful contaminants in the water. At least, not like the ones back on earth. However, the completely new environment of the planet means that there's no way to know exactly for sure whether the water here is safe. So, you put off drinking the water for now.
[[Immerse yourself into the river and explore underwater]]
[[Leave and walk towards the forest instead->Investigate the surrounding forest organisms]]
[[Walk back to the ship]] As you walk through the forest, you can't help but to notice how similar all the plant life is. It's the same exact type of red trees and grasses all over the place. It's almost as if they're all clones. In addition, there are no signs of any type of animal life whatsoever. This is a surprising find. With the high amount of oxygen in the atmosphere, you expected there to be animals and far more plant varieties.
[[Continue walking deeper into the forest]]
[[Leave and walk to the river to explore it instead->Investigate the water in the river]]
[[Walk back to the ship]]Determined to find some edible plant and organism sources you continue traversing through this red forest. However, no matter where you look, there's only the same red grasses and trees all over. A few hours later you stumble across the strangest building you have ever seen. It's extremely large in size and constructed from the red wood of the surrounding forest. The building is shaped in the form of a large torus and it seems to have been abandoned quite some time ago. The wood is falling apart and decaying. You think to yourself jokingly "Oh, great...a giant rotting donut. What next?"
[[Go inside the building]]
[[Walk towards the river to explore it instead->Investigate the water in the river]]
As you walk inside the building, it becomes even more obvious that no one has been here in a while. The place is falling apart from the inside out and black mold-like organisms coat the entire inner structure. The place smells absolutely rancid too. You think to yourself "where's a gas mask when you need one."
[[Explore the entire inside]]
[[Leave and walk to the river to explore it instead->Investigate the water in the river]]You continue exploring the inside for any clues about who made this large building and why they aren't here anymore. But the place seems to be entirely empty with nothing but rotting wood and black mold. However, just as you were about to call it quits, you notice some kind of markings peeking beneath the mold.
[[Clear away the mold to examine the markings]]
[[Leave and walk to the river to explore it instead->Investigate the water in the river]]As you clear away the markings you see what looks to be a laser etching of some extremely strange letters. It looks like gibberish to you, but the way they're written seems to imply some sort of warning. Maybe it's explaining what happened to the previous habitants or why there are no animals on the planet. Either way, it's not a good sign.
[[Leave and walk to the river to explore it->Investigate the water in the river]]
[[Walk back to the ship]]You really want to find organisms that can sustain humans, so you change into the scuba gear that was inside your pack and walk into the river. The water feels pleasantly warm as you slowly ease yourself underwater. For a long while you find nothing in the river, but after you immerse yourself deeper you begin to notice a lot of odd yellow blobs floating towards the bottom of the river.
[[Get closer to the blobs and examine them]]
[[Leave and walk towards the forest instead->Investigate the surrounding forest organisms]] It's very difficult to tell exactly what type of organism the blob is, so you decide to get closer. As you get near them, you think to yourself that it could possibly be some kind of protist? Though, you'll need to bring it back to shore if you want to examine it in more detail.
[[Pick up one of the blobs and bring it back to shore]]
[[Leave and walk towards the forest instead->Investigate the surrounding forest organisms]] You touch the blob to test its reactiveness and mobility. It remains completely immobile and doesn't react in any sort of way. You then pick it up and make your way back to the shore. As you exit the water, you place it onto the ground. The blob begins slowly pulsating. Hmm, seems like it doesn't like land. You think about possibly cooking and eating it, but you're not sure if it's safe or appetizing to eat something like this.
[[Throw it back in the water]]
[[Cook and eat the blob]] You're slightly worried about landing on the ice cap since you've never tried to land on such a surface before. After some deliberation, you decide to go through with it. The ship slides for a while upon contact with the ground but after some distance it comes to a halt. You feel relieved that the landing was successful.
[[Explore the ice cap]]
[[Go towards the black circular objects]]
The first action you take is to dig up a sliver of ice to test for water quality. You use the portable stove to melt the ice and then you throw in a water test kit. The test kit indicates that there are absolutely no contaminants in the water nor are there any minerals of any kind, just pure H2O. This is a promising sign that that some of the ice, snow, and glaciers might be able to be used as a water source for the human population. You then begin slowly walking around and exploring the ice cap for hours, searching for any signs of a living organism. You are only able to walk slowly because there are many uneven and slippery surfaces on the ground. Walking any faster would result in falling onto the ground. After a fairly chunk of time, you come across what looks to be a bunch of large muted orange patches across the landscape. You wonder what these mysterious patches could possibly be.
[[Get closer to the orange patches]]
[[Walk away and investigate the black circular objects instead->Go towards the black circular objects]]
[[Walk back to the spaceship]] You find a flat spot and land your spaceship on the rocky landmass. You step outside of your spaceship and take a look around. The large altitudinal differences in the landscape make this place kind of look like the Grand Canyon. Well, more like the extreme discount version, but the point still stands.
[[Explore the rocky terrain]]
You walk through the rocky terrain for hours upon hours looking for anything and everything that may resemble a living being. But you can't seem to find anything but lifeless rock all around you. You continue walking through the landscape for such a long period of time that blisters start forming on your feet. Just when you were about to call it quits, you come upon two distinct canyons in the distance. One of them contains a narrow strip of what looks to be grey soil running through it. Whereas the wider canyon contains a large body of water of some kind. You sigh in relief at the sight of something other than rocks.

You continue exploring the galaxy, hoping to find another planetary system that is more habitable and can best support the human population. However, it was not meant to be. The human lifespan is too short to thoroughly explore the vast milky way. Even discovering a single planetary system with planets capable of sustaining life, is a sort of miracle in itself. You pass away unexpectedly only a year later, without ever having found the perfect planet that you had always envisioned sending humanity to. Unlike you, none of the other UN space pilots will ever even find a remotely habitable planet. All of them eventually pass away from old age as humanity's last-ditch attempt for survival ends up in failure. By the year 2800 the very last of the humans back on earth have passed away. The human species goes extinct and permanently fades into the sunset.

The first year on the planet was golden. It was a fresh, new, and exciting period as the human population built new cities, established new governments, along with the many other tasks that are required when starting life anew on a different planet. However, the golden period did not last long. A year after first arrival, the first human passed away from what was an unknown sickness at the time. It was later discovered that a contagious and infectious fungal type of microorganism permeated the entire water supply, including both the oceans and the rivers. The microorganism had an extremely long incubation period of 12 months, during which there are no symptoms. Within a matter of weeks, the microorganism had spread to every single human on the planet and induced a deadly disease. Those that survived the first few weeks after the outbreak, slowly withered away and died a few months later. A year and a half after first arriving on the planet, the last remaining human passed away. Thus, rendering the entire human population to be extinct.

The ship arrives back on Earth 32 years after you set the return course. Unfortunately, you've passed away many years ago. The UN officials give your remains a proper funeral and burial back on Earth. Shortly after, they pull up information from the ship's computer, noting your discovery of Poseixos-c as a habitable planet and Poseixos-b as a dangerous planet that should be avoided at all costs. By this point, humanity had built enough spaceships to support total migration for the remaining human population. After readying all the supplies and spaceships, the human population sets out to Poseixos-c. They arrive at Poseixos-c three decades later.
Life for the human population was difficult at first in Poseixos-c. After all, the planet is composed mostly of rocks and ice caps. Most of the early population settled near the two canyons with the large lake and narrow strip of grey soil. They hunted the fur ball looking animals and harvested the incredible variety of plants. At the same time, many of the scientists, architects, and engineers flew to the north pole to learn about the ins and outs of the alien greenhouse systems located beneath the ice cap. Within a short period of time humanity had discovered which seeds grew into plants that were edible for humans and which ones did not. Architects and engineers fully documented the structure of the greenhouse systems and builders began constructing identical greenhouse systems en masse. Within two years, humanity had all the renewable resources that they needed to sustain the human population for the long term.
Of course, life for humanity wasn't nearly as great as it used to be on earth hundreds of years ago. But the important part is that most of the human population remained alive and healthy. This would not be the case if you had exited the system to explore for other planets or sent the population to Poseixos-b instead.

Congratulations! You have fulfilled your life's mission of saving humanity by finding them a habitable planet to migrate to.

Note: Once you set the navigation system to return to earth, the process is IRREVERSIBLE, and your choice will ultimately determine the fate of humanity. Only do it once you have thoroughly explored both of the planets and made a final decision.

(link-undo:"Retreat")Are you sure you want to exit the planetary system and continue exploring the Milky Way in hopes of coming across a better planet for humanity?

[[Exit the planetary system in hopes of finding a better planet for humanity]]
(link-undo:"Retreat")You walk over to a pile of skeletal remains and sift through them. They all vary greatly in size, shape, and density. The shapes are particularly fascinating. There are spherical bones, cone-shaped bones, octahedron-shaped bones, amongst many other shapes. Some do look like the bones from animals back on earth. While others are vastly different. These findings indicate that a very large variety of animals used to live here. Which begs the question, "What could have caused such a mass extinction?"
[[Take a closer look at the trees]]
[[Continue exploring the shore]]
[[Swim in and explore beneath the ocean]]
You decide to further explore the shore to see if you might discover something new. You walk for hours down the shore, but you find nothing new, only more skeletal remains and trees.
[[Take a closer look at some of the trees->Take a closer look at the trees]]
[[Swim in and explore beneath the ocean]]
[[Walk back to the ship]] You walk your way towards the trees. They are very strange looking because they are very short (about 1.5 meters tall) but very wide (about 3 meters wide. You find it mind-boggling that their trunks are twice as wide as their height. The trees also have broad red leaves that grow not downward, but upward from their branches. In addition, there are numerous small, red, and cone-shaped fruits growing from their branches. You wonder to yourself if they are edible.
[[Try out one of the red cone shaped fruits]]
[[Take a closer look at some of the skeletal remains]]
[[Swim in and explore beneath the ocean]]
You pick one of the red cone shaped fruits and take a small bite into it. It tastes amazing, like nothing you've ever tasted before. The flavor profile is very sweet, mellow, and luscious. You think that this fruit might possibly be the most delicious thing you've ever tasted before. The fruit is perfectly edible and nutritious.
[[Pick some of the fruits and put them into your pack]]
[[Take a closer look at some of the skeletal remains]]
[[Swim in and explore beneath the ocean]]
[[Walk back to the ship]] You pick a good number of fruits and put them into your pack for later eating. You feel refreshed and ready to keep exploring.

[[Swim in and explore beneath the ocean]]
[[Walk back to the ship]] You start tearing some of the more interesting looking plant organisms out of the ocean floor to take back with you to the shore. After making your way back, you lay the organisms out onto the ground. You're amazed at just how different they all are. There are bulb-like plants, string-like plants, spiraling plants, linear plants, and everything in between. None of them look edible though, so you put them into your pack to dry and preserve them at a later date, so that there are samples to show to the human population in case you fly back to earth.
[[Explore the shore]]
[[Walk back to the ship]] You decide to explore further into the sea to try and find animal-like organisms, but after an hour of swimming beneath the ocean, you still have yet to come across any. You're not exactly sure how much oxygen remains in the diving tank, but you think it's getting pretty low.
[[Swim back to the shore]]
[[Continue exploring beneath the sea]]You swim your way back to the shore and take your scuba gear off.
[[Explore the shore]]
[[Walk back to the ship]] You refuse to accept that there are no animal-like organisms in the sea, so you continue to explore beneath the sea. About half an hour later, your diving tank runs out of oxygen. You take the mouthpiece out of your mouth and begin frantically swimming towards the surface. Unfortunately, you are far too deep underneath the sea and you pass away within a matter of minutes. Your final resting place, permanently located at the bottom of an ocean on "Poseixos-b".
[[Death]] You look around the hatch, searching for any way to open it. At first glance, there doesn't seem to be any obvious handle or lever of any kind whatsoever. However, upon closer examination you see a very small button on the side of the hatch. You press the button and the hatch slides open. Beneath the hatch you see what looks to be a lift of sorts.
[[Step onto the lift]]
[[Walk away from the hatch and explore the rest of the ice cap instead->Explore the ice cap]] You continue walking across the ice cap, searching for any other signs of a different organism. However, all you come across is just more large patches of the same tiny organisms. Some of them differ in color though, you found both red and yellow colored variants of these tiny organisms.
[[Walk back towards the black circular objects you found when you first landed->Go towards the black circular objects]]
[[Walk back to the spaceship]] You walk through the opening into the underground building. Your jaw drops to the floor as you see the most bizarre interior you've ever seen. The room is constructed in a spherical shape and there's large cylindrical containers scattered throughout the room. There are even containers built onto the ceiling of the room. In addition, the stone wall of the building is covered with some kind of thick and fuzzy pink colored material, likely for insulation purposes. The room also has an opening leading to a different room.
[[Open some of the cylindrical containers]]
[[Enter the other room]]You decide it might be too risky to enter this underground building that was obviously built by an intelligent life form. You think to yourself "Who knows, maybe the intelligent life forms still inhabit the place. What if they are dangerous and hostile? Then I'll never be able to contact earth." You press the small button and the lift goes back upwards towards the surface.
[[Explore the ice cap]]
[[Walk back to the spaceship]] You walk back towards the lift and press the small button. The lift slowly travels upward and takes you back to the surface.
[[Explore the ice cap]]
[[Walk back to the spaceship]] You open the cylindrical container. Inside, you see thousands of seeds from a plant of some kind. You open another container and once again you see thousands of seeds, but of a different variety. You continue opening other containers and every single one of them holds thousands of seeds that are different from all the other containers. These seeds must have been used to grow food sources inside this underground structure. The inhabitants that once lived here are even more intelligent than you originally thought.
[[Enter the other room]]
[[Walk back towards the lift and go back up towards the surface]] You enter the other room. It feels significantly warmer than the other room. This looks to be a greenhouse of sorts that was used to grow the seeds from the first room. There's an extremely large open cylindrical container with some kind of soil-like material lined throughout it. Tiny holes dot the inside of the container and spray out a very fine mist. The room is connected to numerous identical storage and greenhouse rooms. You begin to get excited as you imagine the human possibilities for such a place.
[[Enter the first room and check inside the containers->Open some of the cylindrical containers]]
[[Walk back towards the lift and go back up towards the surface]]
You start digging up some of the gigantic bulbous plants, but as soon as you pull one out of the ground, you hear an extremely loud and threatening hissing noise emanating from within the burrows.
[[Put the plant down and slowly back out of the canyon]]
[[Get closer to the animals and check out their burrows]] You decide it best to adhere to the vocal warnings of what looks to be a large bunch of very hostile and defensive animals. You put the plant down and slowly back your way out of the canyon. The animals roll out of their burrows and resume their normal activities.
[[Walk to the other canyon to explore the body of water->Explore the body of water]]
[[Walk back to the spaceship]] You immerse yourself into the much colder than expected lake. The temperature feels barely above freezing. You start swimming your way across the lake looking for new and exciting life forms. You search most of the lake but end up empty-handed. There doesn't seem to be anything other than pure water in this lake. But hey, on the positive side you received a free washing and discovered a high potential water source for the human population. You quickly exit the lake and dry yourself off.
