A delicious way to spice up a spaghetti meal or mashed potatoes
Time: 30 minutes
Servings: 30 meatballs
Ingredients
For the Meatballs
1 lb ground beef
1/2 lb ground pork
1/2 cup shredded Parmesan cheese
1 egg
2 cloves grated garlic
salt and pepper to taste
For the Sauce
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup barbecue sauce
2 teaspoons chile flakes (or to taste)
chopped chives for garnish
Steps
1 Mix all of the meatball ingredients together and form your meatballs.
2 Heat a large pan or skillet covered lightly in oil and carefully place the raw meatballs in.
3 Let them cook on one side for about 4 minutes and then flip. Repeat this process on the raw sides of the meatball until it holds it's form. Once they are strong enough you can roll them around in the pan with a spatula until they are fully and evenly cooked.
4 After they are cooked, drain the pan of excess oil and fat and leave just a lining on the bottom of the pan to keep them from sticking.
5 Deglaze the pan with a small splash of water and scrape any pieces that are stuck. Add the brown sugar. if they are looking too dry add another splash of water.
6 The sugar will begin to caramelize and darken. Once it has thickened a bit, remove it from the heat.
7 While still hot, add the barbecue sauce and mix it in well.
