- 1 lb ground beef
- 1/2 onion
- 5 slices american cheese
- salt
- pepper
- seasoned salt
- sub roll
- mayonnaise
- ketchup

- step 1:
Dice the onion.
- step 2:
Add the ground beef to a medium-high heat frying pan.
- step 3:
When beef is starting to brown add the diced onion to the frying pan.
- step 4:
Add salt, pepper, and seasoned salt to taste. Use more seasoned salt than salt or pepper.
- step 5:
After the beef and onions have finished cooking cover the surface of the mixture with the slices of American cheese.
- step 6:
Spread mayonnaise on both sides of the sub roll.
Optional: Toast the sub roll prior.
- step 7:
Fill the sub roll with the cheesy ground beef and onion mixture.
Cover with a healthy squirt of ketchup.

For added authenticity wrap the sandwich in aluminum foil and allow it to rest for 10-15 minutes.
This simulates the walk from a bodega back to an apartment, and helps moisten the bread.
