Hello, my name is Jade

I am a learning disabled woman of color. I grew up in a low middle class family where on my mothers side, tallent was valued. I had always been creative, and never stopped trying to make art throughout my life. I was even told to learn calligraphy to deal with my dysgraphia. Though I do not have physical disabilities, I still struggle with subjects that others might find easier to deal with.
I interact with many different art forms, though my main medium is digital art. I also, however, know how to paint, sculpt, and have hobbies in resin and sewing. Because of this I have made a variety of works, some even with mixes in media, such as my sculpture from 2023, of a hand made jackalope plush solidified in a resin coat. These are not the only mediums I have or can work with however. I have a single work I had created that involved metal welding, a few made in india ink. I can learn to make art in any medium I wish if I am truly interested in doing so.
Like most artists, I want to create to express my feelings. I care about the forms of every piece of my art being as close to how I want them as I can. Whether it's from music, or friends, there is always motivation to make what I do, out of wanting to express my feelings and connections in my life. The emotions I feel when creating my works are often so strong I become bothered I can not project it all into my work.
I value connection, emotion, and fun. My pieces are usually things I am excited to make, if it is not fun to make the art, why would you expect it to come out very good? Being excited to get to the next step of a project is what's needed for it to turn out good to me. This is mostly due to, like I had mentioned before, the emotional connection to the art. I do have pieces that are full of rage, or depression, and I was depressed well making them. The feelings you have well creating the art can dictate how it ends.
