The story begins with three pigs who live with their mother. The mother pig tells the pigs that they need to build their own houses so that they will be safe from the wolf. The first pig builds a house of straw very quickly. The second pig builds a house of sticks a little bit slower. The third pig builds a house of bricks, which takes him the longest. The wolf comes along and sees the first pig's house of straw. He huffs and puffs and blows the house down. The pig tries to run away but is eaten by the wolf. Not satiated, the wolf comes to the house of sticks and huffs and puffs and blows the house down. The second pig is also devoured. Now with a taste for fresh meat, the wolf continues and comes to the house of bricks and huffs and puffs and blows and blows, but he cannot blow the house down. The wolf tries to enter the house through the chimney, but the third pig boils a big pot of water and puts it below the chimney. The wolf falls into the pot of boiling water and dies. The third pig lives happily ever after in his house of bricks.
