What is Fortnite?

Fortnite battle royale is an online video game that was made and released by Epic Games in 2017. A battle royale game is typically where 100 players drop into a large map and the game will continue to go on until only one player is left. When players drop in, they must find loot such as weaponry and supplies to help themselves win the game. Periodically, whats called "the storm", will enclose the map and cause players to move towards the center of the map. This constricts the map and makes it smaller as more players die. If players go into the storm, they will become injured and if they stay in the sotrm long enough, they will die. This goes on until there is one player left.

An intersting thing about Fortnite is that people can't put money into the game to win. Some games are designed in a way where if you put in money, you get upgrades or special features to your account that gives you an advantage over other players. With Fortnite, you can put money into the game to make your character look cool or to unlock emotes for your character. However, cosmetics and emotes do not give you an advantage over other players. Since Fortnite has been released, many games have transitioned this style where players pay to unlock emotes or cosmetics instead of paying for advancements.

Arguably the most iconic part of fortnite is the battle pass. Virtually every game now has the battle pass. A battle pass usualy comes out one to three months and the common price is $10 - $15. The battle pass gives you a lot of rewards such as cosmetics, emotes, and points. The catch is, you have to play the game in order to unlock the rewards.
