Many who are not versed in the fibre arts may not know the difference between crochet and knit works of yarn. The easiest way to differentiate is the type of needle used to create the stitches. Crochet only uses one needle, that actually has a hook on one end to pull and loop the yarn to create stitches. Knitting uses two needles, and are traditionally pointed at the tip. Knit stitches are interlocking loops, and their construction means that each stitch is able to stretch quite a bit. Crochet stitches are more like knots, making them very solid, and any stretching will normally be minimal and largely decided by the type of yarn used.
