Fashion Designer

A fashion designer takes inspiration from multiple sources and streamlines said inspiration into a collection that is presented on the runway. There are multiple steps throughout the process, beginning with conceputalization... After aquiring said inspiration, the designer will create a moodboard that has images, swatches, and other 'things' that represent the collection to reference back on as needed. Preliminary sketches are done at this point and are reworked as needed in order to better suit the 'feel' of the collection. When the sketches are up to par with the creative direction the designer is inspired by, flat sketches are made with dimensions for the in-house seamstresses to create prototypes. These prototypes are ultimately reviewed by the designer in charge, and are presented to the public through a fashion show, or through direct to consumer tactics, such as selling one's product at Bergdorf Goodman, Barneys, or Nordstrom.
