The Journey of a Drummer

Click the locations on the map in order to see the steps I took in my life to become a drummer!

1. Gamestop

On November 13th 2011, my life was changed completely when I was given Rock Band 2 for my birthday, complete with a guitar, drums, and a microphone. Since I was unable to play the guitar, I opted to try drums for a couple songs out of curiosity. It soon became more than just a game for me.

2. Laurelwood Baptist Church

After roughly three months of playing Rock Band, I joined an art group at my church. That is where I met Jeremy, a drummer that saw enough potential in me to teach me how to transfer my skills from a four pad piece of plastic to a full kit. He gave me different beats to practice each week, making sure that I was improving every time I saw him.

3. River City Music

In 2012 (my Freshman year of high school), I began taking lessons from Kelly at River City Music. This is where I learned more than just beats, but also fills, paradiddles, and different time signatures. I was only able to take lessons for under two years, but I have carried my knowledge throughout my drumming career.

4. Gateway Community Church

In June of 2017, I was introduced to a new church community through playing drums at Dunes Bible Camp. I am currently using my talents there on a monthly basis, interacting with new musicians as I go.

5. The Rise of Sun Crunch: The Journey Ahead

As of June 2018, I am in a funk rock band called Sun Crunch. This is where we will be playing our first show. Dreams do come true.
