Cooking with Colston: Tri-Tip Steak Stroganoff

Tri-Tip is the fatty cut of sirloin and has great flavor and will make you drool from the results! Using steak in stroganoff brings out that great stake taste and is tender enough to go well with pasta. The creamy stroganoff will be a cohesive element to the dish

  1. 1.In a large skillet add 1 Tbsp of Vegetable Oil and sear Tri-Tip pieces on high, browning all sides of the meat.
  2. 2.Take the beef out with it's juices and set aside.
  3. 3. Now on medium heat in the same skillet, add onion slices, mushrooms, and 1 tbsp of butter and stir for 4 minutes. Brown the mushrooms and scrape the fond (caramelized juices) to mix into the pan.
  4. 4. Add Noodles to the boiling water with a dash of salt.

  7. 5. Put the cooked beef and juices into a large pot and stir in the mushroom and onion concoction. Cook for 10 more minutes on medium.
  8. 6. Turn to low heat, and add 1 cup of Sour Cream and stir.
  9. 7. Plate the cooked noodles and pour the Stroganoff on top.
  10. 8. Garnish with Thyme and enjoy!
