This initial interest naturally led me to explore illustration art as my final AI project direction. I am also curious about the transformative potential of integrating traditional fashion illustration creative processes with AI technology. Throughout this semester's study of AI, my approach to using these tools has evolved significantly. While the rapid advancement of AI technology has enhanced efficiency in many areas, it also presents considerable challenges. Specifically, my experience with tools such as Midjourney during this project highlighted the potential for brainstorming visual styles and the difficulties of achieving precise imagery through AI.

Exploration

The study of this course has made me realize that artificial intelligence is increasingly becoming a part of our everyday environment. This integration also allows me to explore the intriguing intersection of artificial intelligence and fashion illustration. This union represents not only technological advancement but also a paradigm shift in artistic creation. AI tools have the potential to transform basic sketches into detailed artworks, transcending traditional limitations and breathing new life into each piece. However, the journey involves not only the technology itself but also the synergy between the artist's vision and the machine's execution.

Challenges

One of the challenges I faced was the need to exclude the facial features of real people from my illustrations while preserving the unique characteristics of each character, such as the detailed design and texture of the clothing. Initially, I made a mistake in my choice of tools. On the first day I was ready to work on the final project, I hastily opted for the standard plan of Midjourney. However, after further discussions with GPT, I realized that for specific needs—particularly editing an existing image (like my sketching) into another image—a tool designed for photo editing or image processing, such as Adobe Photoshop or GIMP, would have been more appropriate.

After evaluating my initial experiences and the challenges encountered with Midjourney, I decided to continue using the tool. When I provide hand-drawn images and descriptions, its output often includes faces that resemble real people, which can be overwhelming. Despite these challenges, I believe that AI tools may possess undiscovered features that could further enhance their utility. Therefore, I will continue to explore their potential through trial and error, hoping to better harness these tools to achieve my creative goals.

Theoretical Framework
