Wisterias climb by twining their stems around any available
support. When viewed from above, Japanese Wisteria twines
clockwise, while Chinese Wisteria twines counterclockwise.
This is the main way to identify one species from the other.
They come in a variety of colors, including:
Scientific Name | Common Name | Distribution |
---|---|---|
Wisteria brachybotrys | Silky Wisteria | Japan |
Wisteria floribunda | Japanese Wisteria | Japan |
Wisteria frutescens | American Wisteria | United States |
