What Makes A Good Movie?

Many of the movies that have come out recently have really disappointed me. New movies seem to be remakes of old movies or heavily rely on old franchises that have gone on for too long and have no soul left in them. I think movies have forgotten how to be good without the backing of a strong franchise. For my capstone project I want to talk about what makes a good movie and discuss why many “new” movies that come out are falling short.
To begin, I’ll be making an infographic that outlines what makes a good movie. I’ll be using the main points and concepts from the book “Plot Versus Character” and have images that go well with it. Then, I will make a remix video that builds off of the infographic information and juxtaposes the old and new Star Wars trilogies. Within the remixed video I will show a clip of what good writing looks like from one of the trilogies and a clip from another trilogy of bad writing. I’ll also talk about what works well in both trilogies and what could have been done to make them more interesting. I may also add in other popular movies that have come out recently and add some movies I really enjoy watching. I think the infographic and remix will build off of one another and help reinforce the ideas I have laid out.
