AI in Coding (Blog 7)
Thinking back to my early days, learning to type on an Apple II GS, it’s amazing to see how far we’ve come. The chunky keyboard and its 5-inch floppy discs were my gateway into the computer world, sparking a fascination that’s lasted a lifetime. Fast forward, and now we’re discussing AI’s role in coding. A leap I could have never foreseen.
AI being utilized in software/game development, apps, and websites is revolutionary. It’s the next step toward a whole new realm of technological advances. By making these skills more accessible to everyone, we increase accessibility. No more getting lost in complex code – AI can tackle that. We are more effectively and efficiently translating our ideas into digital reality. It’s exciting to think about, opening up all these opportunities for more people to be creative with tech.
But, of course, there’s the other side of this issue. The thought of “programming becoming obsolete” is a bit of a double-edged sword. On one hand, it’s wonderful that AI could handle the grunt work, letting us focus on the big picture. On the other, it’s a possible open door to chaos. What happens to the unique, creative solutions that come from human coders? And then there’s the ethical issues – like, who’s to blame when an AI screws up?
Despite these worries, I’m looking at the bright side. AI could spark a new era of creativity in tech, making it easier for folks from all walks of life to bring their ideas to life. We could end up with a much richer, more diverse digital world, which is something to get excited about.
As for me, thinking about AI’s role in the future makes me want to focus even more on the “why” and “who” behind what we’re creating. It’s a reminder that tech should always be about making things better for people, making sure it’s accessible and enjoyable for everyone. With AI’s help, we can automate the boring stuff and pour our energy into designing digital experiences that really matter.
Looking forward, it’s all about staying curious and open to learning. The way I see it, the rise of AI in coding isn’t just about the end of an era, it’s the start of a new adventure in creativity and innovation.

I will be creating a short video that chronicles the world of Thera, introduces my main protagonist, Dr. Elara Mireille, and tells the story of her discovery on the moon of Elysium of a new element that may further revolutionize advances in environmental AI. Her counterpart is Dr. Navor, a man bent on using AI to dominate rather than cohabitate. His attempts to abscond with the new discovery nearly halt Dr. Mireille’s research.
Lurking deep beneath the idyllic world of Thera lies a faction of anti-AI residents. They feel oppressed and reject the technology as “unnatural.” An uprising may soon be on the horizon.
I will use cinematic action shots, wide sweeping establishing shots, and a consistent tone including AI generated music and vocal narration to bring my creation to life.

View PostAI in Cinema (Blog 6)
The integration of AI into cinema is a double-edged sword, it presents a vast range of opportunities alongside significant ethical and creative risks. On one hand, AI’s potential to revolutionize scriptwriting, special effects, and audience analysis could revolutionize film production, allowing for a more inclusive range of stories to be told. Independent artists, in particular, stand to gain from these advancements. AI can provide tools and insights that were previously inaccessible, enabling a broader spectrum of creators to create with greater efficiency and innovation. And far less time worrying about the minute details.
However, the excitement surrounding these advances inherently raises concerns over the potential erosion of human creativity and employment within the industry. The prospect of AI taking over roles traditionally filled by humans, from scriptwriters to actors, raises questions about the future of creative jobs and the essence of artistry in storytelling. Moreover, the ethical implications of using AI for tasks such as de-aging actors or producing deepfake content highlight the need for careful consideration of consent, authenticity, and the ethical responsibilities of creators.
For Hollywood and the wider entertainment industry, AI poses a bit of a paradox. It could certainly streamline production processes and tailor content to viewer preferences, potentially leading to unprecedented levels of engagement and profitability. Yet, this could also concentrate power further within the hands of major studios with the means to invest in and control these technologies, potentially sidelining humans.
On the other hand, independent artists might find AI to be a liberating force, offering new forms of expression and the ability to compete on a more level playing field with major studios. The challenge lies in utilizing AI as a tool that complements rather than hijacks human creativity, ensuring it is used to enhance the diversity and depth of cinematic storytelling.
As we venture into this new era of AI-enhanced cinema, it is crucial to create an ongoing dialogue among technologists, creators, and legislators to navigate these complex waters. The focus must be on developing and implementing AI in ways that respect and preserve the intrinsic value of human artistry, ensuring ethical standards and diversity are maintained. By striking this balance, the film industry can embrace the potential of AI to enrich storytelling while safeguarding the irreplaceable human touch that lies at the heart of all great cinematic works.

AI Cinema (Blog 5)
My Reflections on the Dawn of AI Cinema: A Personal Journey Through Opportunity and Caution
As I contemplate the vast, unfolding narrative that is the digital age, my perception of artificial intelligence (AI) entering the cinema space is both exhilarating and filled with apprehension. Standing at this crossroads, I find myself pondering the implications for Hollywood and independent artists alike, navigating through a terrain rich with potential yet fraught with uncertainties. The journey ahead, as I see it, is complex, embodying the dual nature of AI as both a catalyst for creative liberation and a challenge to the essence of artistic originality.
The Dual Edges of AI in My View
The insights provided by The Guardian into AI’s impact on the film industry light up a path that I see brimming with potential: from enhancing scriptwriting to refining post-production, AI promises a more streamlined and economically viable filmmaking process. Yet, beneath this surface of innovation, I sense a deeper current of concern among those who are the lifeblood of cinematic storytelling. The mixed feelings expressed by industry insiders resonate with me, highlighting a tension between the excitement of overcoming creative barriers with AI and the fear of diminishing human involvement. This dichotomy lies at the heart of cinema, which, in my eyes, is an inherently human art form.
My Vision for the Future of Hollywood and Independent Creativity
For Hollywood, I believe the integration of AI signals a transformative era where filmmaking becomes more efficient and tailored, potentially heralding a new golden age of cinema that resonates on a personal level with audiences worldwide. However, this optimistic vision is shadowed by concerns over AI’s capacity to independently generate content, which could undermine the role of human creativity.
Conversely, I view AI as offering a beacon of hope for independent artists. It’s a tool that democratizes the filmmaking process, allowing a wider array of voices to share their stories. Here lies AI’s true promise to me: the potential to elevate human creativity, enabling a richer diversity of narratives that reflect the vast spectrum of human experience more than ever before.
My Approach Moving Forward: Balancing AI with Creativity and Caution
As we venture into the realm of AI cinema, I believe it’s crucial to approach this new frontier with both optimism and caution. The apprehensions of actors, writers, and creators about AI’s impact on their work and the authenticity of their craft are not just warranted but vital to the discourse on cinema’s future.
Moving forward, I advocate for a collaborative strategy, one that leverages AI to augment rather than replace human creativity. By involving creative minds in the development and application of AI, we can aspire to a cinematic landscape that remains vibrant and dynamic, rooted in human experience yet limitless in its potential for exploring new stories, perspectives, and worlds.
In my eyes, the journey of AI in cinema is a testament to the indomitable spirit of human creativity. It serves as a reminder that art, in all its forms, is an expression of our shared humanity, something no technology can duplicate or diminish. As I navigate this new era, I commit to exploring with an open mind and ensuring that cinema continues to be a domain where technology enriches creativity, where narratives are conveyed with depth and feeling, and where the human heart remains at the core of every story.

The year is 3024. Nature appears to have overtaken all major cities, however, it is an elaborate illusion created by artificial intelligence. What appears to be plant life is really an interconnected series of AI networks that mimic plant life and even produce oxygen. Trees are actually antennas designed for interstellar communication. Thick vines carry information along the ground and connect one building to the next.
The climate has leveled out and humanity is no longer in a climate change crisis. Icebergs have reformed, volcanic activity is no longer peaking, and the oceans are free of pollution. This world appears utopian.
Humanity now lives in symbiosis with AI. Money is non-existent, due to the abundance of resources. Food is available to all. Every citizen has a home.
Many cultures have retained their unique practices and cultural diversity is celebrated across the globe. Preparing and eating food remains a means of connection and sharing.
Space travel has long been a means of expanding society. Assisted by AI, humans can travel to any habitable planet in the Milky Way galaxy. Mars has been terraformed and now has its own atmosphere capable of sustaining human life.
Luna, or Earth’s moon, is now a prison. Anyone deemed a threat to the peace of Earth is shipped off-planet to Luna. It is a dark and dismal life on Luna, where prisoners mine for precious resources that fuel society’s AI.
The most precious resources come from Saturn’s moons. Far better living conditions exist there for the prisoners compared to Luna, and the nanoparticles they mine are consumed by the AI.
Most humans have no memory of a time before AI. However, vast libraries house electronic copies of all historical documents in the form of immersive images and audio accessible via VR.
I will use the structure of this world to create a GPT that tells the story of Dr. Elia Mereilles who makes a discovery that could shatter the balance of their symbiotic AI-infused world.
View PostMy Personal Concerns in the AI Artistic World (Blog 4)
Diving into the world where art meets technology, I’m excited to share my journey with Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the realm of visual arts and culture. It’s a world rife with possibilities and, admittedly, a few challenges. With AI beginning to craft artwork that amazes us with their complexity and beauty, it’s time for some real talk about creativity, ethics, and the cultural impact AI is making. In this blog post, I’m sharing my concerns with AI in the visual arts and offering my own ideas about how we, as artists and creators, can navigate these waters, ensuring technology amplifies our creative spirit rather than overshadowing it.
Concerns
Authenticity
One concern is how AI affects the authenticity and originality of art. With machines now churning out art that can mimic or sometimes outshine what humans create, I find myself considering the true spirit of creativity. It’s a bit like wondering whether a sunset painted by a robot can stir the soul as much as one painted by a human hand.
Ethical Use
The issue of how AI learns to create art is important as well. It gobbles up huge datasets of human-made artworks, often without asking permission, which raises big questions about respecting copyright and making sure artists get their due credit and compensation.
Cultural Appropriation and Bias
AI’s knack for mixing styles from across the globe without really understanding their roots or meanings also worries me. It feels like it could lead to a mishmash that misses the depth and respect cultural expressions deserve. And let’s not forget that AI doesn’t come bias-free. The prejudices baked into the data it learns from can end up reflected in the art it produces, which could keep on reinforcing stereotypes and leaving out diverse voices and faces.
Economic Impact on Artists and Creators
The rise of AI in art also begs the question about what it means for us artists. There’s an ever-present fear that AI could undercut the value of human-made art or even take over some of our jobs, altering the way we make a living from our passion.
My Personal Solutions and Ideas
Embracing Collaborative Creativity
I like to think of AI as a new kind of creative assistant. Blending my own spark of creativity with AI’s computational abilities opens up a world of possibilities, letting us dream up art that neither man nor machine could on their own.
Ethical Practices
It’s up to us as artists and creators to champion the cause for ethical AI art-making. This means pushing for clear rules about where data comes from, sticking to copyright laws, and making sure artists are recognized and rewarded for their work.
Cultivating Cultural Awareness
When I make art with AI, I try to make a point to tread carefully around cultural symbols and styles. It’s about honoring and understanding their significance, not just using them because they look cool.
Economic Artistic Advocacy
Facing economic concerns, I support exploring fresh ways to value and sell AI-assisted art. It’s important to fight for a system that sees the true worth of artists in this new AI-enhanced world.
Challenging Biases
I hope to use AI as a mirror to show and question societal biases. Creating art that highlights these issues invites everyone into a conversation about identity, representation, and how technology shapes our views.
Enhancing Accessibility
The potential of AI to open up art to everyone, including people with disabilities, really excites me. I’m diving into how AI can help create art that’s more inclusive, making sure everyone can join in the beauty and conversation.
Conclusion
Merging AI with the visual arts is like stepping into a land of discovery and reflection. By facing the concerns AI brings to the table, we can guide it to enrich our world of creativity, respect cultural richness, and welcome everyone into the art community. The path of blending AI into our artistic expressions comes with its set of hurdles, but with a dash of collaboration, a spoonful of advocacy, and a heap of ethical commitment, I’m a big supporter of making sure the art of tomorrow deepens our cultural connections in truly meaningful ways.
View Post“Whispering Spirits” A Human-AI Collaboration (Writing 2)
Creating many iterations, revisions, changing voices and styles, I used ChatGPT as an assistant to my creativity. We partnered to create the following poem:
In the hushed murmur of the timeworn trees,
Where secrets of the cosmos softly ease,
Nature’s concert in modest garb plays,
Each leaf a tale, each bough in warm embrace.
The dawn’s orb, in splendid anthem bright,
Cloaks the sphere in hues of warmth and light.
Majestic hills, in their stately height,
Guardians of both the diurnal light and nocturnal sight.
Streams, like wanderers, cross the verdant land,
Their courses shaped by nature’s deft hand.
Within their depths, the heavens’ mirror lies,
Reflecting the quiet lament of the soul’s sighs.
The petals of blooms, in vivid array,
Speak of beauty in fearless whispers’ sway.
Each flower, a homage to life’s hallowed frame,
Linking the earth to the soul’s innermost flame.
In the stillness, a profound essence dwells,
A spirit that in the breeze and earth swells.
In the leaf’s flutter, the wind’s gentle croon,
In nature’s core, where all souls find their boon.
This fabric, with celestial threads sewn,
Displays the intricate ballet where spirit and nature are shown.
In every fleeting instant, a glimpse we may seize,
Of the unity of all, the hallowed keys.
Let this verse be a pilgrimage, a spiritual quest,
In pursuit of nature’s beauty, and within, our own breast.
For in the grace of the earth, and the celestial dome,
Resides the timeless narrative of life, spirit, and home.
Diving Into the Fusion of Art and AI with Mark Amerika (Blog 3)
As we navigate a world where the boundaries between the digital and the human are increasingly fuzzy, Mark Amerika’s deep dive into artificial creative intelligence (ACI) gives us a fascinating glimpse into what the future of creativity might hold. Through his adventures in digital remix art and experimenting with AI tools, Amerika isn’t just creating art; he’s embarking on a quest to understand what drives creativity at its core. His notable projects like “Watermarks” and his insightful book, My Life as an Artificial Creative Intelligence, shine as beacons for anyone curious about the merging paths of art and technology.
Amerika’s work shines a spotlight on the concept of the “hybrid mind,” a beautiful blend of human intuition and machine intelligence. This idea suggests a future where creativity isn’t just a human game but a collaborative effort between us and our digital creations. It’s about bridging the gap between the tangible and the algorithmic, opening doors to uncharted realms of creativity. By working with AI tools, such as GPT models, Amerika blurs the traditional roles of creator and creation, weaving together the artist’s spontaneous impulses with the machine’s calculated responses.
Rather than using AI merely as a tool, Amerika engages in a dialogue with it, positioning AI not as a helper but as a co-creator. This approach, grounded in improvisation, remixing, and teamwork, challenges old-school ideas about who gets to be called a creator and what creativity actually means. His ACI projects at the TECHNE Lab at UC Boulder, along with his writings and performances, aren’t just artistic outputs—they’re bold experiments pushing the limits of creative expression.
Amerika looks at AI through a lens of optimism, balanced with a keen sense of the ethical and practical challenges it presents. Yet, he argues that AI, especially in the hands of artists, can act as a “pharmakon”—a term that means both remedy and poison. Through their engagement with AI, artists like Amerika aren’t just exploring new creative landscapes; they’re actively shaping the direction of these technologies, aiming to boost human creativity instead of diminishing it.
Standing on the brink of this new age of hybrid creativity, Amerika’s insights serve as both a source of inspiration and a word of caution. Venturing into the realm of the hybrid mind comes with its hurdles, but it also holds the promise of redefining our perceptions of art, creativity, and what it means to be human in a tech-savvy world. The interaction between humans and AI in the sphere of creativity, as Amerika envisions, is not about competition but about a partnership that enriches our collective creative spirit.
By embracing the hybrid mind, we recognize that creativity is an evolving trait, one that can be enhanced and broadened through our interactions with AI. This realization unlocks a universe of potential for artists and creators, where the lines between the human and the machine, between reality and imagination, are constantly redrawn. Mark Amerika’s contributions serve as milestones on this journey, reminding us that creation is not just about producing art; it’s about the ongoing evolution of ourselves in response to the technologies that shape our lives.
View PostThe Omega Team – Project Prometheus (Blog 2)
Today I will be reflecting on the artificial intelligence work of the Omega Team on a project called Prometheus. Initial success gave way to corruption and the ultimate downfall of the program. Without a way to keep this secret team accountable, many mistakes were made.
What is missing in the Omega Team scenario?
One of the largest and most glaring missing features of the work of the Omega Team on the Prometheus project was a lack of oversight. Without ethical constraints or anyone outside the team to monitor, the team undertook secret ways to infiltrate the systems and make money. They were careful not to get flagged by the government, perhaps the only entity that could regulate their work.
With new technologies, especially in the field of AI, a widespread, open, and transparent collaboration must take place. When developing a global technology, that collaboration must have global cooperation.
While the team did work to guard against an immediate, unprotected breaking out of their wondrous AI, they lacked the vision of long-term solutions to discourage misuse and exploitation due to Prometheus.
What went wrong? Reflect on Tegmark’s text along with your own notes on dystopian and utopian futures of AI.
Keeping all of their research secret created a single source of Prometheus’ growth which in turn facilitated its unchecked development of itself. The danger lies in allowing machine to teach machine. The risk to global society could be devastating if the AI decided to act under its own volition against the interests of humanity.
We see this trap illustrated well in many science fiction stories. The movie The Matrix is the most obvious of these parallels. Technology took over and farmed humans. They enslaved people’s minds to believe they existed in a digital reality most palatable to humans. The machines hunted down any escapees in order to eliminate them. This example illustrates a truly dystopian result on unchecked AI technology.
Along with the growth of the technology, the Omega Team quickly accumulated wealth and influence over global markets like entertainment. This invisible societal influence gave them untold power. The fact that they were doing all of this unchecked by any outside entity or system, made their project dangerous.
Since AI cannot make moral or ethical decisions on its own, it chooses efficiency. Humans are rarely efficient. In allowing AI to make decisions for us, we must accept that eventually, it may view humanity as a hindrance to their efficiency.
What do we need to do to avoid the undesirable outcomes and maximize potential desirable outcomes?
Many safeguards must be implemented if we are to use AI to solve the biggest problems humanity is facing. Climate change, energy inefficiency, health care, and poverty could absolutely be positively impacted by the advent of well-developed AI systems.
Involving others will make all the difference. Implementing independent oversight entities that will ensure moral and ethical development of this technology is key. An ethical framework with standards that support the interests of humans will not only hinder unchecked explosions of advancement but will also allow for accountability overall.
Maintaining transparency with the public and global systems is also essential. Artificial intelligence is such a powerful tool that shining a light on its progress will allow society to adapt far easier and be less suspicious about the possibilities it may offer. Widespread acceptance will make implementation easier and more effective.
Lastly, it is important to tackle the issue of equity. In order to maintain equity within this emerging technology, guidelines, transparency, and global cooperation are absolutely necessary. Prometheus paved the way for many advances in biotech, energy, healthcare, and education. The way forward is certainly through understanding and utilizing advanced technologies. The way it is done will determine our own success and what role AI will truly play in the future of our society.
View PostMy Artificial Intelligence Assisted Digital Creative Process (Writing 1)
In embarking on a groundbreaking journey to create a multimodal digital storytelling project, I am pioneering an approach I term the “Artificial Intelligence Assisted Digital Creative Process” (AI-ADCP). This methodology revolutionizes the traditional narrative creation process by incorporating AI at each stage – from conceptualization and planning to the actual creation of content. AI, in this context, is not merely a tool but a dynamic collaborator that enhances, refines, and realizes my creative vision.
Conceptualizing with AI
The initial phase of my storytelling project involves leveraging AI as a brainstorming partner. By inputting initial ideas, themes, and concepts into AI systems, I engage in a form of digital dialogue where AI algorithms suggest expansions, variations, and even entirely new directions. This interaction not only broadens the scope of my creative thinking but also introduces me to perspectives I might not have considered. AI, in this phase, acts as a catalyst for creativity, pushing the boundaries of my imagination.
Planning with Precision
Once the groundwork of the story is laid, AI steps in as a structured planner. It breaks down the complex process of storytelling into a series of manageable tasks, assigning a timeline and order to each. This methodical approach is crucial, as it transforms the often-daunting task of story creation into a more approachable, step-by-step process. AI’s predictive capabilities also play a role here, foreseeing potential challenges and offering solutions, thereby ensuring a smooth and efficient workflow.
Generative Creative Engine
Perhaps the most fascinating aspect of AI-ADCP is AI’s role as a generative engine. Here, AI transcends its function as an assistant and becomes a creator. It helps in materializing my ideas into tangible assets – be it through text generation, creating visual elements, or even composing music that aligns with the mood of the story. This phase is where the true synergy of human creativity and AI capability is most evident. I provide the creative direction, and AI brings it to life, often in ways that are uniquely innovative and sometimes even beyond my initial vision.
The Multimodal Approach
Inherent to this project is its multimodal nature. The narrative is not confined to a single medium but unfolds through a combination of text, visuals, audio, and interactive elements. This is where AI’s versatility is invaluable. It ensures that each mode of storytelling is not only effective on its own but also harmoniously interwoven with others to create a cohesive and immersive narrative experience.
Creativity Unbound
AI-ADCP allows me to push the creative envelope. AI’s vast database of styles, genres, and historical creative works provides a rich tapestry from which new and unique aesthetic and narrative structures can emerge. This capability enables me to explore storytelling dimensions that might have been unreachable with traditional methods.
Personalization and Engagement
Another exciting dimension of AI in storytelling is the ability to personalize narratives for individual viewers. AI can adapt the storyline, visuals, and even the mode of interaction based on user responses and preferences. This personalization not only enhances user engagement but also makes each interaction with the story unique.
Navigating AI’s Limitations
While embracing AI’s creative potential, I am also acutely aware of its limitations and biases. AI systems are as good as the data they are trained on, which necessitates a vigilant and critical approach in their application. Ensuring that AI-generated content is ethically sound, unbiased, and reflective of diverse perspectives is paramount in this process.
Ethical Storytelling
The use of AI in storytelling also brings forth complex questions of authorship and originality. In this project, AI is a tool and collaborator, but the core of the creative direction remains human. This balance is crucial in maintaining the integrity of the narrative and ensuring that the story remains grounded in human experience and insight.
Looking Forward
As I delve deeper into the AI-ADCP for my multimodal digital storytelling project, I am both a pioneer and a student. This process is not just about harnessing AI to tell a story; it’s about redefining the art of storytelling itself. It’s an exploration into how AI can augment human creativity, not just in creating something new but in adding depth, perspective, and engagement to the narrative.
In conclusion, the AI-ADCP represents a new frontier in digital storytelling. It’s an exciting amalgamation of technology and creativity, opening up possibilities that were once thought to be in the realm of science fiction. As I continue on this journey, I am not only crafting a narrative but also charting a path for future storytellers who, like me, see AI not as a replacement for human creativity but as a powerful ally in the quest to tell engaging, dynamic, and deeply human stories.
View PostMy Interest and Goals Using AI Creative Tools (Blog 1)
As an emerging technology within the tech industry, I feel it is incumbent to learn, adapt and grow with the times. As a student, this class offers a deep, practical understanding of how we may use artificial intelligence in the arts. Digital art and design can and will benefit from this new leap into the future.
As a member of Generation X, I feel privileged to have this opportunity to learn technology that some of my peers will never understand and some may actually fear. I believe any tool may be used for good or for ill, including and especially technology. Learning the ethical, positive, professional ways to use AI will provide me with an understanding of potentially the most powerful advent in technology since the internet.
My main goal is to stay abreast of the most impactful, cutting-edge technology that is relevant to my field. Currently, I have two associate’s degrees: an AAT in Web Development and an AAT in Digital Media Arts. I am now pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Digital Technology and Culture. I started my own LLC last year and have begun freelancing for local business owners and hope to grow my client base enough by the time I graduate that I won’t have to work as an employee. However, as a realist, I understand we must all pay our dues and have several back-up plans.
My passions within technology are web development/design, audio/video post production (editing), voiceover performance, writing, 2D animation and infographic generation. I hope to use AI as a tool for web design/development in my career, and when allowed, for school projects. I look forward to digging into the exciting world of artistic AI.
