AI Group Game

I worked with Shannon and Zelin. Our game is an escape game. As for my role in my group I was in charge of creating the images of each scenario as well as the music and sound effects. I came up with the characters description and created the theme around the house style. I was also in charge of writing the dialogue for interactions between the characters and objects. And finally I helped with an early version of the cover menu at the beginning in the game that helps the user understand the objective of the game, and it was later modified by my teammates into a more stylized version with color. Our group worked hard to make sure the interactions between the objects and characters was responsive.

Visual #3: Video Animation

Link: https://vimeo.com/942077459?share=copy

For this project I approached from the perspective of how AI robots are a part of the daily lives of people in the Kingdom of Glacium. I show images of just how much AI is important to the kingdom due to how much they help the kingdom thrive from its cold environment in order to survive.  wanted to highlight how the people have adapted into the lifestyle of having AI robots around and just how normalized it is. One of the biggest challenges for this project was generating the images into a video in the direction I wanted, sometimes the movement was hard to control. I think this aspect of AI of turning images into video still is a work in progress but overall it is fascinating how it can bring an image into video, it reminded me a lot of parallax animations. I utilized ChatGPT to create my images from my GPT dedicated to my fictional world, and used Runway to turn them into videos. Sunoo was used to create a soft soundtrack and eleven labs for generated voiceover. Sunoo and Eleven Labs were much easier to have control over.

Blog: AI Business Plan

For my business idea I would like to do an AI-Enhanced Social Media Monitoring Tool

Objective: Develop a sophisticated AI tool that automates the monitoring of social media for brand mentions, sentiments, trends, and more, providing real-time analytics to manage brand health and respond to potential crises efficiently.

The way I would utilize AI would be by outlining my needs in order to develop this business plan, as I would not even know where to start. I would ask AI to outline what I would need to initiate my business plan and then use what it told me to do my own research on the information it gave me. Other usage of AI to begin creating a business would be to use AI Tools and Software in my business. For example, utilizing AI-powered software tools for market analysis, financial forecasting, and customer insights. Tools like IBM Watson, Google Cloud AI, and other specialized software can provide these analytics. Additionally, using AI to plan the collaboration with AI experts such as  working with data scientists or AI specialists to develop custom models tailored to the specific needs of my market analysis and business planning process. Given the tools of AI I can research how many business have similar outcomes like mine and in what ways I could develop my business in a more unique way that makes it stand out from the rest.

Here is my business plan:

Mission Statement: To empower businesses with cutting-edge AI tools for real-time social media intelligence, enhancing their ability to manage online reputation and engage effectively with their audience.

Blog: Game Dev

For the game I wanted to do some kind of storytelling where you had the user who’s playing be able to interact with the game. I wanted to do some kind of scavenger hunt or puzzle game.

My group ended up doing an escape game, where the user needed to help the main character (Teddy) escape the house by interacting with objects and characters within the game. As for my role in my group I was in charge of creating  the images of each scenario as well as the music and sound effects. I was also in charge of writing the dialogue for interactions between the characters and objects. And finally I helped with an early version of the cover menu at the beginning in the game that helps the user understand the objective of the game.

Blog: Generative Arts with AI

I found randomness and true random really interesting as it provides examples of the generated art that comes out of this concept. I think having the creation of generating art at random is fun for both the artist and user as each sequence of art will be different and it helps the experience be interactive. I found the art that gets generated from code to be really cool, and how it can vary due to the randomness it is generated from.

Here are the techniques I explored:

Blog: AI and Coding

I think as of right now it’s best to learn coding on your own to understand what the terms mean and get familiar with what terms do to code. But I do think AI in coding can definitely be a good resource to have on hand once you understand what the terms are.

I took a coding class a year ago and have not touched coding since then but I do remember how the exercises I did in class helped me in understanding what each term did to the code. I think utilizing AI if you understand the coding language could be beneficial but I do see how AI can be lacking in the way you want to be creative in coding as the technical language can be a little complicated (at least for what I experienced with chat gpt). I think AI would be the most beneficial for generating simple stuff for beginners but can be a bit too much once you try to do complicated code as perhaps the code has different layers to how it makes it work. As for concerns of professions I do think there would be some potential job cuts as AI advances but for now I think coding still needs human touch and oversight. The way code is formatted is very structured to reflect a human’s way of thinking and creating complicated projects could confuse AI and complicate things as a user, especially if you don’t understand where to place what in the code.

I think if you are going into coding because of your profession it will be best to learn coding for yourself rather than just relying on AI. I see coding as something that you really have to learn from scratch (AI guidance is good), but in order to produce projects that have more advanced and complicated web development that are satisfactory rather than just general in terms of AI.

AI as a beginner is a great way to create fun projects as you learn and have an assistant that can guide you through reasoning behind mistakes and your learning. As for the relying on just AI to code I think it’s not the right path as learning on your own will be the most beneficial on the long run as you will develop strong coding skills to go further into creative projects.

Blog: Final project and research essay

For my essay section of the Multimodal Research Essay I think I’d like to focus on what I have encountered the most challenges throughout using AI, which is keeping up with consistency and how AI seems to struggle with this. I think I’d like to dig deeper in researching how the language that we use with AI can be misunderstood by AI and the techniques we should use in order to get the results we want from AI rather than just hoping it produces what we want.

As for my final creative project I am still undecided but here are my ideas so far.

  1. In my fictional world I’d like to explore creating some sort of novel or that helps illustrate more detailed artifacts from this world so I’d like to dive deeper into the art that is produced in this fictional world and create some sort of book or website similar to the style of the Codex Seraphinianus. Ice art is predominantly what my fictional world produces so creating some sort of book that helps illustrate this would be fun to explore
  2. 2. Creating some sort of art gallery for my fictional world and working around to maintain a cohesive theme.
  3. Another idea is I’d like to create a video of some sort and have images be generated from song lyrics or dialogue from books. I’d like to investigate how well AI does with different languages so perhaps I can explore how I can have the same story but in a different language and see how similar or different AI produces it. I think with languages, translations do not always get translated correctly so this would be a nice opportunity to see how AI can work around this. Especially with how AI may not always produce what you want it to with the language technique you talk to it so it will be nice to see how this can be explored.

Blog: Happy Finish

Questions for guest speaker:

  1. During hiring, does someone’s experience working with AI impact the hiring process?
  2. Can you give some examples of how AI is used in a company like Happy Finish?
  3. With the integration of AI into a company like Happy finish, has AI reduced the number of positions available in the company or has it helped open more positions?
  4.  AI is constantly evolving and as you are working with it, how do you think AI will impact this field industry in the future? How has it impacted your company?

Blog: Video Sequence

For my video, I am thinking of creating the scenes from my previous visuals into a more in depth sequence of showing my fictional world from the perspective of a character living in this world and following them into a day in their daily life sort of montage. I plan to create this video following this character from the start of their day until the end of their day. With this storyline I will be able to show different activities and scenarios that are a part of this fictional world and how these characters would live in their environment and have adapted.

As for the visual style, I want to remain consistent with my previous visuals but focus more on capturing the life moments of my character from the start to end of their day such as what their school day looks like, social activities, food consumption with AI maintained facilities, and how AI is used at home. I think by following my character along with their day it will help someone understand the environment, food, culture, technology, and uniqueness of my world. I plan to end my video from the perspective of my character attending a cultural or societal event and show how the community of the Kingdom of Glacium adapted into events and activities with their living environment.

For the soundtrack I want to have a soft background audio that is played in the background that fits the theme to my world so something that is soft and light. This soundtrack would be able to help with showing how magical the visual atmosphere of my world is and showing its beauty in its landscape. I’m thinking of something that blends traditional instruments with futuristic electronic sounds, creating a sense of awe and innovation for the visuals of my kingdom.
Sound effects would help represent the world in a better way which I plan to use by representing the outside sounds with the snowy and cold environment with sound effects such as crystal-clear chimes and echoes to mimic the sound of ice sculptures and buildings, enhancing the visual experience of Glacium’s architecture. Sound effects for the indoor food facility will help show the stability of the food production in this world. I plan to show human interactions with AI so something like mechanical sounds for AI movements or operations, contrasted with the human voices and laughter, can highlight the collaboration between humans and robots in Glacium and how they work together to help thrive the Kingdom of Glacium.

Blog: AI Cinema

The main risk in AI Cinema with many artists is the fear that due to AI developing at a rapid pace, will lead AI to eventually become something that produces high quality material, and will lead to AI replacing jobs in this industry. AI taking over jobs in this industry is the most feared as it is an industry where creativity plays a key role in the outcome of a project. Although this fear is among those in the cinema and entertainment industry I think the usage of AI will not eliminate and replace all those who work in the industry but AI will develop to be used quite frequently as it can help in saving time and money with the production for something such as a film.

The creative work in the film and entertainment industry cannot just solely be replaced by AI as I think it will not be as good as having the creativity as humans do, AI does not have that same human spark touch with direction to new creative projects. There is still so much to go with AI and a quote from the article ‘Of course it’s disturbing’: will AI change Hollywood forever? said “it’s going to tell stories from the perspective of its programmers, essentially, then you have to worry about the lack of diversity among the programmers”. This quote definitely touches on the subject of how AI will generate outcomes based on what it is programmed to do, and how we as public perhaps do not know just how much diversity is behind these programmers. In the scenario of everything being replaced with AI, just how much would be shifted to one narrative versus having actual humans who lead away with the development of a production knowing that there is diversity behind a project and teamwork.

I do think there will be some cuts in jobs due to AI but overall having a successful industry cannot survive solely on AI, what we consume still needs the touch and management of human input. Ideas and time consummation will definitely be lifted by AI but it will help the workflow of a person’s job be easier and help get stuff done more quicker. The usage of AI in the industry needs to be well monitored as well as the contribution of humans toward the AI usage to be able produce something that makes cinema what it is now. Having laws and rights that protects artists from AI overtaking and over stepping into an industry will help protect artists as well as making sure everything gets properly credited.

I think that the accessibility for AI tools, especially for independent artists is great as it will allow for artists who do not have the same major resources in the industry to have opportunities to be able to showcase their work. I think AI can help assist in having the chance to grow and develop skills for artists in the film industry as it can be a chance where artists can be able to experiment with their skills.

Blog: AI in the fictional world

I think in order to create a good fictional world it is important to have a consistent style and theme to really make your fictional world cohesive. Looking through the visual dome on instagram, you can really get a sense that there is a consistent theme and style between each image which really helps tie the feed nicely and helps identify the creator’s style. When your images are visually tied together it helps your world be brought to life and it helps your world be consistent to what it represents as a whole.

I think the first steps I would take in creating a fictional world is to establish the elements that represent the world so that it is cohesive to a style in which you are generating your fictional world, whether it’s in a style of cartoon and comics versus something like in the style of abstract art. I believe having the style of art in which your world is represented will help the fictional world have a consistent style which will help put together your world much better. Having a thorough description of your fictional world be given to the AI will better help get you better results for your fictional world. These descriptions should be centered around the era and setting, details of your environment, people, culture, technology, and a clear description of what makes your fictional world unique and different from others.

In regards to my fictional world I’m leaning towards a more ice age fictional world and want to focus on how the people of my fictional world are thriving culturally and environmentally as they have adapted to freezing cold temperatures. I want to show how the people from this world are running their food systems as they are not able to grow food easily due to the extreme weather conditions and how technology is helping with this. I want to explore the theme of AI being an assistant to the people of my fictional world where AI is helping this world thrive and make progress environmentally and culturally. A theme for my world will be ice and snow and showcasing how the people from this world have adapted to survive in extreme cold temperatures and how they maintain their world running and succeeding beyond their territories, as well as the AI influence in this world. I am visualizing to include ice castles and cities that are built from ice and snow showcasing intricate designs. Ideas like these are my goal in highlighting the kingdom’s unique adaptation to life in its eternal winter.
