HTML Project

This is what I was able to make work. I tried throughout the week to use ChatGPT and some other Ai in order to help with my coding of this site. I was wanting to have the videos and the audio be linked and able to be put in any order, letting the user make sound but it untimely didn’t work that way. I was thinking that one of the better ways to make a media play was to make each video and array item based off of the information that was given to me from Ai but was given code that did not function the way I was wanting it to. I also ran into it not giving any examples of code and gave me information that was blatantly wrong. I plan to work on this more outside of class in order to put it on my portfolio.

Final Project idea

I am planning for my project to make to make the start of a you tube channel that will give how to videos on audio editing and some techniques that I have acquired while doing work in the DTC program. I also considered to use it as a channel to inform about audio effects and some of the uses that have been used in the past.

I also want to focus on the DAWs that are sort of becoming the industry standard in the music and audio industry. doing this I would do Logic Pro, Studio One, Ableton, and potentially pro tools depending on the future of that program.

Week 10 blog post

With the movie Bandersnatch we as the viewer can see some of the ways that “we approach making films and videotapes will drastically change.” I believe that not all movies or cinema will be interactive or be something that allows the viewer tactile interaction with the art form in the way that Bandersnatch does, but could be how to show or view ideas in a no linear format. Similar to how Hypertext works change how some view the way to write stories in a non linear way, this sort of interactive cinema can inspire writers and directors to approach their work in different ways.

All together I found Bandersnatch to an intriguing and entertaining way to experience a movie or video. There were times that I wasn’t wanting to make choices and watch how things play out but I feel that it didn’t hinder the experience as a whole.

I feel that in the coming future there can be a niche of video entertainment that can follow in Bandersnatch’s ways of interaction but could also interact with a sort of augmented reality were what each viewer is seen can be different and that some viewers can have a large difference between what they see.

Video Essay Blog post

In this video essay they combine the uses other videos in order to give examples of the topics that they are discussing. They were successful in being able to share and idea then be able to use either a video or image in order to give a visual example of the editing that can be used in video essays and to be able to see that technique used right in front of the viewer. Images and videos also help create the context of what the narrator is saying and helps further give a feeling of creditability to what is being said. When constructing my own video essay, I think that I would first establish a topic then write a script that might have within similar to scene notes ideas of potential video or images that I could use at that moment in order to help the viewer have a clearer understanding of what I am portraying. To plan out what graphics I am going to use will help drive me to make sure that I cam thinking about my audience and how best I can keep what is being said available to them.

Week 7 Blog Post

Story Prompt Response: In the heart of a dense forest, far from the hustle and bustle of the city, stood a solitary cabin. It belonged to a man named Owen, a solitary figure who found solace among the trees and the songs of the birds. But what made Owen’s life unique was not just his love for nature, but his peculiar profession – he was a caretaker of computers.

Owen’s cabin was not just a shelter from the elements; it was a sanctuary for machines. Rows of computers lined the walls, their soft hum filling the air like a soothing melody. Some were old and weathered, while others gleamed with the latest technology. Owen had a special bond with each one of them, tending to their needs with meticulous care.

Every morning, Owen would rise with the sun and set about his tasks. He would dust off the keyboards, run diagnostics on the hard drives, and ensure that each computer was running smoothly. He had a knack for troubleshooting.

Despite his secluded lifestyle, Owen was not entirely alone. He had a faithful companion in the form of a stray cat named Byte. Byte would curl up on Owen’s lap as he worked, purring contentedly as the soft glow of the screens bathed them in light.

Life in the cabin was simple but fulfilling for Owen. He had everything he needed – the quiet of the forest, the companionship of his computers, and the gentle presence of Byte. And though the world outside may have seemed distant and chaotic, Owen found peace in the rhythm of his daily routine.

As the seasons changed and the years passed by, Owen remained steadfast in his dedication to his craft. His reputation as a computer whisperer spread far and wide, attracting clients from all walks of life. But no matter how busy he became, Owen always made time for his first love – the quiet sanctuary of his cabin, where he could commune with nature and tend to his beloved machines.

Style:

I chose that I would use AI more for the establishing shots, for me to be able to hybridize between AI and real footage. I have inspiration from how day-to-day life is covered or stylized by Studio Ghibli but also by John Carpenter with how he can portray isolation or tight environments.

Camera: I will be using a High definition camera so I am also having the AI replicate more of a cinematic camera. I might also attempt to see what it would look like in a more animated style to see if I like it but I will start with realism.

Costuming: I want to depict a distant future but also have elements that are seen in the modern day, maybe hinting at something that has happened to halt humanity culturally to mirror something more of the current day.

Lighting: When shooting the exterior shots outside the cabin I want to start with nature being warmer and the interior of the cabin being colder. throughout the story, I want to potentially swap these to show that the ideals of Owen have changed.

Week 5 Loops

For the First loop I choose was this establishing shot of a city skyline. It uses motion blur well to mask any repeating, to make it appear as one continuous shot.

I chose this because of its use of low speed in order to keep the loop continuous having the viewer and the light constantly moving away from each other but also appearing to be in pursuit of.

For this gif I chose because of its use of editing making it appear that the bicyclists are close to hitting each other but nearly miss in order to beep continuous motion.

Autumn Mists Post.

Dimitri Kirsanoff’s “Brumes d’automne” showcases an editing style that is in the favor of using montage as a way to give insight into how the character reflects or is feeling. The main character reads and interacts with letters and how she feels about what is being said, even though the audience do not get to see what the letter says, can get an idea of how it effects the main character.

She will read for amount and then reflect whether that brings the audience to a flashback of sorts or direct action in tossing the letter into the fire. paired with the music and the visuals the audience can get a feeling of somberness or depression. I personally when watching was made uneasy by some of the sound choice that were made. This could have been a tool to help the audience get a better idea of how the main character was feeling at the time of reading these letter. For me the use of montage worked sometimes, I did find that some montages worked better than others in this experimental short, were for some I was focused more on trying to understand or making meaning out of what I was seeing.
