Who is Jerma985?
Jeremy Elbertson is a Twitch streamer that goes by the name of Jerma985 online. Originally from Boston, Massachusetts, he moved to Las Vegas in 2018 to pursue larger scale streams. His internet presence began in 2011 on YouTube. At the time, his content largley focused on Team Fortress 2. In 2016, Jerma left YouTube and started his residence on the live streaming platform, Twitch. Jerma985 is most known for his unconvential streaming style, widley focusing on viewer engagement, and using his platform to his advantage.
The Horror
Within the last few years, Jerma has expressed his passion for larger scale streams amd evemts. One of his biggest streams, also known as "The Jerma985 Dollhouse" in which viewers were able to control the streamers actions on a large set resembling a house, similarly to the Sims games. He has also done several other large scale streaming events, such as the Baseball Stream which included two fictional baseball teams. Jerma later described this stream as a "live comedy improv show".
Community creation is one of the most important aspects of a Jerma985 stream. During these streams, Jerma has explored fan-made websites, green screen movie nights including videos made by fans, of the streamer doing various bits in front of a green screen. He often engages with his chat in a different way than other streamers, rather than just dully reading chat. Jerma's most famous clips are often ignited by viewer engagement, he can see one message and somehow create an entire bit.
Jerma is often described by viewers as psychotic. During an Elden Ring stream of 2022 Jerma gives a speech, now referred to as the Meat Grinder incident "If I chop you up in a meat grinder, and the only thing that comes out, that's left of you, is your eyeball―you're probably dead!"
The Truth
As a streamer, Jerma is much more than a goofball that plays games, he has expressed great care for his community, and his allyship to marginalized communities, and does not accept any kind of hate in his chat. Unless, of course, aimed at him.
