Imagine a lab experience where students fold a protein, interact with microorganisms, explore organs, prod a herd of wildebeests, and feel and change the pace of evolution over millennia.

BioLabVR, a large-scale project aimed at producing the medium and tools for a multisensory, interactive, and immersive environment through which to teach concepts in biological sciences by direct experience, makes these activities possible. Our project taps into powerful, visceral experiential learning by creating a virtual reality (VR) environment that allows students to interact directly with biological objects and concepts, sense and perturb them, and naturally develop the basic intuition needed to comprehend concepts that students have previously been unable to experience.
