In my last post, I mentioned that we had moved into our new space, the Restoration Space––or what we are referring to as “The Rez.” Just getting the computers, software, manuals, and peripherals (that we had to put storage for the real problem of not having enough space) out of the MOVE Lab and laid out on the shelves of the new space were chores accomplished over the holidays. Last Friday, James and I spent the day organizing the manuals and software so that we can begin inventorying them and, frankly, so that if I needed a copy of Director 8. I could easily locate it on a dang shelf.

This week he and I began checking computers to see if they worked and, if not, what the problem may be. Below is the preliminary list. Note that the list only covers 34 of about 100 computers we hold.

In April Bruce Horn, who created the Apple Finder and Macintosh Resource Manager and is now working on Siri and Language Technologies at Apple, is speaking to my Internet Revolutions course. I can show the students the Macintosh 512K that boots up with his name. Why? Because while it is important that they learn the history of their field, it is likewise important for them to meet the pioneers and experience their inventions, firsthand.
