Driven by a strong interest in UX/UI and website design, I have undertaken several personal projects to enhance my skills. I have applied this knowledge to class assignments and collaborated with small organizations and businesses on website design projects. These experiences solidified my decision to pursue UX/UI as a career, motivating me to pursue relevant coursework and certifications to further develop my expertise.
My background in digital art also complements my UX/UI work, as it allows me to create visually engaging and intuitive interfaces. With seven years of experience in design, including illustrations and animations, I integrate my artistic skills into user-centered designs that prioritize both aesthetics and functionality. This combination of creative and technical expertise enables me to craft seamless, impactful user experiences.
UX/UI DESIGNER
FIGMA & ADOBE ILLUSTRATOR
As part of English 402: Technical Writing, I collaborated with the Collective for Social & Environmental Justice (CSEJ) to redesign their website, incorporating UX/UI techniques to better highlight their new learning garden on the WSUV campus. My team focused on aligning the website’s design with the organization’s branding, using color schemes and layouts inspired by seasonal changes and plants. We created multiple website prototypes to showcase different seasons, providing a visually engaging and cohesive user experience.
The final product included comprehensive branding guidelines, which outlined logo components, color palettes, and typography. In addition, we delivered website mockups that incorporated these design elements, ensuring consistency across the site. A key feature was the location page, which provided users with clear information about the learning garden’s placement on the WSUV campus. This cohesive approach helped create a unified and visually appealing user experience, aligned with CSEJ's mission and identity.
UX/UI DESIGNER FIGMA & UDEMY
As part of a personal project in UX/UI design, I completed a Udemy certification course to master the fundamentals and advanced techniques of Figma. The course included working with customer personas to design interfaces tailored to target audiences. Throughout the process, I utilized wireframes, LoFi and HiFi models, animations, transitions, and accessibility standards. I also incorporated logos and plugins to streamline my workflow and used stages such as mood boards and references to guide the design process.
For my project, I created a mobile version of a beer ordering website. The design featured dark color schemes with contrasting reds, enhancing the user interface’s visual appeal while maintaining a modern and engaging aesthetic.
HTML & CSS
As part of DTC 355: Web Design and Development, I created a simple website that guides users through a short story about different types of ocean pollution. The website featured an interactive, text-adventure game-like experience, where users could make choices leading to various endings. I utilized HTML, CSS, and JavaScript to develop the site, incorporating a clean interface with images to enhance the storytelling experience and engage users in an educational yet interactive way.
