Mariah Gwin

Games Specialist

Mariah Gwin is the Games Specialist for the Electronic Literature Lab at Washington State University Vancouver. She is pursuing a dual Bachelor's in Digital Technology & Culture and English with certificates for Games Studies & Design and Professional Writing and is expecting to graduate in the Summer of 2020.

With the Electronic Literature Lab, she has presented at Implementing New Knowledge Environments, a Digital Humanities conference in addition to having presented at research showcases to spread the results of the Traversal project. She was also a contributing author to Rebooting Electronic Literature. She focuses primarily in writing, games story developement, front-end web development, content creation, and design.

“Linking Literature and Games: Exploring Hypertext, Digital Fiction, and the Language of Gaming” presents literary games, hypertext, and digital fiction focusing on the scholarship of Astrid Ensslin, a professor from the University of Alberta specializing in Electronic Literature and Games. This exhibit features literary works, games, and hardware that date back to the mid-1980s and into the late 2000s. With a background in Digital Humanities and Game Studies, Ensslin’s research explores digital-born works of literature, fiction, and games. Each item was inspired by and selected based on works that were discussed in her book, Literary Gaming.
