About This Story

The events in this story stem from actual occurrences which happened to Kuwaiti performer
Noura Al Taqaqa.
The musician started her wedding show expecting routine performance delivery
but instead found herself confronting a strange situation
in an abandoned building that resisted all logical understanding.
Digital storytelling combines with interactive elements along with musical elements to retell
her troubling experience in this narrative.
The retellings and oral narratives produce this version by
merging authentic information with dreamlike images and poetic phrases.
All narrative elements within the story including the bride and groom as well as the veiled guests
and strange architectural aspects stem from actual observations rather than serving as abstract metaphors.
The work expresses feelings of discomfort which emerge
when the familiar world meets mysterious unexplainable phenomena.

Artist Statement

Through its interactive web story "The Wedding of Jinns" allows users to examine how myth intertwines with reality.
The genuine folklore story about Noura Al Taqaqa shaped my creative direction alongside storytelling features deploying code
mechanisms and motion and sound systems.
Generative AI tools produced the visuals which received additional retouch work in Photoshop
to refine color levels while adjusting contrast and texture details.
The story incorporates audio effects that stem from free sound libraries and undergo selection based on their tonal quality.
Part of the imagery came from royalty-free archives alongside adaptations from discovered sources.
Between them these elements created an effect that deepened the dreamlike qualities of the visual space and story development.
Developing JavaScript audio integration presented itself as a premier challenge in this project since I encountered it for the first time.
I tried various features for autoplay functions as well as volume control options together with interactive sound embeds in my project.
The challenge led to personal growth as I learned about the power code holds over atmosphere regulation.
The project implements horizontal scroll movement that approximately parallels an exploration experience with unknown depths.
Hover effects act like whispers.
The narrative moves slowly as dread intensifies gradually throughout the story.
The project functioned beyond a standard web design commission
because it explored how fear works together with mythic elements and memorability principles.
I aimed to develop an experience which stands beyond belief but actually exists.
