Vivienne Westwood
Born April 08, 1941, Vivienne was known for her 'sex, drugs, rock & roll' aesthetic. Never one to
shy away from some fun, she met with the British queen without knickers, and swirled her skirt to
show the queen that, that was the case. In 1965, she met her long time companion Malcolm McLaren, and
together they ran a boutique by the name of SEX. This shop carried t-shirts with political and pornographic
slogans, along with S&M inspired fashions. Eventually, Westwood gave up her punk aesthetic and truly
focused on running her business. She has come to find success in combining her previous punk roots
with feminine attributes to create clothing that appeals to the masses. Westwood has truly taken her
rebellious spirit and refined it into a 'haute couture' aesthetic.
