When the clock hits 12 a.m. on September 21, GiveMore 24 will become your link to making a difference for the parks, trails and recreational programs throughout Clark County!

GiveMore 24 is a 24-hour, online giving challenge that urges everyone who cares about southwest Washington to take action by giving what they can, wherever they are, at the same time. The Community Foundation for Southwest Washington launched the event with hopes of growing philanthropy across the region. Their goal is to inspire the entire community to come together around exciting and accessible giving.

How does it work?

The Community Foundation has set up an online platform with a leaderboard that will track every organization’s fundraising success for 24 hours. Anyone can donate starting at 12 a.m. on September 21, 2017 through this authorized and secure giving form on the Parks Foundation’s secure Community Foundation site.

All donations will be processed through the Community Foundation’s giving platform, which will allow everyone to cheer on their favorite causes throughout the day. GiveMore 24 is building off of the successes of crowdfunding efforts across the nation, but it is uniquely built for our community. It will encourage community giving through competition and prizes, but also by leveraging the social networks of donors just like you. That means that you have the power to amplify your support of the Parks Foundation and create a wave of donations. Donors must give at least $10, but there is no limit to the value of your gift.

When will GiveMore 24 take place?

GiveMore 24 launches at 12 a.m. on September 21, 2017 and last until midnight of the same day. To make your donation count for GiveMore 24, you must make your gift through give-more-24.org during that 24-hour period.

How does your gift give more on Thursday the 21st?

It’s all thanks to the Community Foundation’s Stretch Pool and Nonprofit Prizes. Generous individuals and businesses have provided more than $100,000 in dollar-for-dollar match gifts for specific nonprofits. The Parks Foundation has a $1500 match from our good friends at Waste Connections. This is a great way to double your donation and double the benefits for the Parks Foundation.

In addition, a generous group of local donors has provided a $56,000 Stretch Pool that will help boost every GiveMore 24 donation. These funds are allocated to each organization based on how much money it raises on September 21. For example, if the Parks Foundation receives 3% of the total raised on September 21, it will also receive 3% of the stretch pool. So, the more dollars the Parks Foundation brings in, the more stretch dollars it wins.

Why you should give to the Parks Foundation of Clark County?

Making a gift to the Parks Foundation is making an investment – a RE-Investment – in our community. Whether we are helping raise funds for a major project like Vancouver’s new Waterfront Park, or helping a single mom find the $50 she needs so her son can play in Little League, we are making a difference every day here at the Parks Foundation. And it’s all because of the support of people like you. The grants we award each year are for projects and programs that will directly affect the lives of everyone in our community. We are helping improve the health, well-being, and quality of life for our community as a whole, and for individuals for whom the impact is tremendous. But the need is much greater than we can support. For every dollar we award, there are five dollars that we aren’t able to give. For every child who gets a recreation scholarship, there are ten more who also need support. By supporting the Parks Foundation, you will help us continue to change lives in a meaningful way right here in Clark County.
