The Camas-Washougal skate park was originally built starting in 2000 and opened for public use in 2002. The two cities worked with local skaters to design a park that simulated a street style experience. Many of the original features are now gone or do not appeal to today’s skaters. With the addition of skateboarding to the 2020 summer Olympics, there is renewed interest in bringing the aging facility up to date and accessible to all. Updating this park provides an attractive and safe space away from city streets for skateboarders to practice their sport. The addition of new features will make this park an inspiration to skateboarders for many years to come. This grant would be used to cover labor costs. Other non-profits and the two cities are also helping with this project to work towards completion by early 2021.
