Camp Hope

Camp Hope was initially established to help cope with the rise in teen suicide, substance abuse and mental health issues.  By providing a safe space for at-risk youth to build lasting relationships with peers and adult mentors, the students build a foundation that encourages them to develop self-confidence, communications skills, empathy, and respect for themselves and others.  These skills equip kids to deal with, and resist participating in, harmful behaviors. Unplugged and outdoor activities strengthen both physical and mental well-being and include physical challenges in sports, horse riding, archery, survival training and challenge courses, as well as art therapy. This grant request provides scholarship funds for 200 youth to participate in Discovery Day Camps, Overnight Camps, and Foster Family Camps, providing outdoor camp experiences for at-risk youth in the SW Washington and Portland Metro area.
