Ike Memorial Dog Park is one of four designated parks in Clark County that allows dogs to roam off-leash in a protected setting.  Ike Memorial is one of the busiest dog parks in Clark County but is lacking a sustainable and safe border. The current field fencing is thin and damaged due to weather, wear and tear, plants, pets, and humans.  The current fence requires overhauling every 2-4 years. The addition of a permanent chain-link fence is estimated to last 15-20 years.

The park is open to all residents of Clark County and there are currently approximately 2,200 visitors per week to this park.  There are two entrances to the park, with one being accessible to those with disabilities. The park has a ¾ mile walking trail that allows pets and their humans to exercise free of worry for most.  The new fencing will help to provide a dog park that is safe and secure and prevent smaller dogs from escaping through the holes in the current fence. The park also provides an area away from neighbors that are wary of dogs.  Replacing the old fence with a new secure fence allows limited resources, both monetary and volunteer, to be used to improve this and other dog parks with upgraded water systems, environmentally friendly waste bags, and /or dog training and educational activities. This grant would help provide a permanent stable chain-link fence for the Ike Memorial Dog Park.  Members of the DOGPAW organization have committed to matching the grant with 75 cents for every dollar granted by the Parks Foundation up to $15,000. If the grant is not fully funded, the fencing would be partially replaced based on funds available.
