For the past year members of ELL’s staff have been working to catalog all of the works of e-lit and computers available in the lab. Last summer Setareh Alizadeh meticulously organized the stacks and stacks of CDs, hypertext folios, floppies, and diskettes into a discernible collection of works dating back over two decades. Amalia Vacca continued with this work after Seti (our nickname for Setareh) graduated, and got everything in order on shelves. Greg Philbrook (or “Sir Gregory” as those of us in the CMDC Program call him), then, began the painstaking work of building the online database in PHP and MySQL. He is still working on the site, but you can see the results here.
Scholars visiting ELL now can search the database to see the works that are available to read. But more importantly, they can find the right computer and software in the lab for works they may themselves own but do not have the appropriate technology with which to view the works. This aspect of the ELL Online Catalog should be very useful to scholars.
