James Lesperance, ELL’s programmer and a recent graduate of the DTC Vancouver department, has won three awards this spring. The first was 2nd place in the Student Undergraduate Research and Creative Activities (SURCA) competition in the category of Art and Design, held on the WSU Pullman campus on March 24, 2025. His project, “Programming a Method for Documenting NetProv,” resulted in the development of a custom data visualization to represent Grace, Wit, and Charm (2011), a foundational work of Netprov created by pioneering artist Rob Wittig. This project was funded by a 2024 WSU Vancouver Undergraduate Research Grant. His visualization was published in The Rob Wittig Collection in The NEXT.
James took the project to WSU Vancouver’s 2025 Research Showcase held on April 8, 2025, and again was awarded 2nd Place. This past week he learned that he was awarded the 2025 Excellence in Undergraduate Research VanCoug Leadership Award.
We are very proud of the work James has been doing with us in ELL.
