A game about a robot and a world ruled by a virus


Inspirations

Our vision was to style this game after the Metroidvania genre. It was going to be a 2D sidescroller, with emphasis on revisiting past area’s and exploration to get the full story, and more items to help the player in their journey. As such, we drew inspiration from the games the genre is named after, Castlevania and Metroid, but also games like MegaMan and Legend of Zelda to a lesser extent. From these inspirations, we drew many of our ideas and themes for the game.

Sprite sheet for boss robot

When designing the boss of the first area, I drew inspiration directly from Metroid Fusion. Joel Clapp had provided me with concept art of the bosses design, but to put it into pixel art, I reviewed the design for a boss from that game to create ours.
