Finalizing
To finish off the illustration, I like to add a simple colored background and a signature. Here, since this was a comission, I left the signature out so that the customer had a clean final product.
When creating more detailed pieces, backgrounds can be a great addition. Since this was a character request I opted for just a colored background, but the process for drawing a background is the same as drawing anything else.
The beauty of drawing and art in general is the learning process. Nobody can truly draw with no experience, and as one starts the process of learnig to draw, the world seems to open up. With each finished piece, it's easy to start noticing details that could be changed or improved, but more importantly the artist must remember these details. This leads to the next artwork being just that much better due to your new experience, and this cycle continues as you learn to refine your art over time.
