Artist Statement

This project was created with Javascript, Jquery, HTML, and CSS, in the Fall of 2020 for the end of my Junior year as a DTC major at WSUV. Some of the challenges encountered during the design and coding process of this website were:

• Deciding upon the best method to present and code the navigation menu. Although it went against my usability instincts to hide the tabs within a menu icon, I wanted to deliberately guide people through the website and discourage them from visiting pages out of order.
• Getting the embedded video elements to play properly and dealing with their numerous playback error messages.
• Choosing a color palette. It was a struggle to find a balance between cheery, aesthetically pleasing colors, while keeping them muted enough to not hurt users' eyes.
• Making sure the percent animation executed on regular intervals to create the counting up effect and not beginning early.
• Starting the slideshow on the proper photo according to which was clicked.
• Deciding upon a project that involved enough interactive elements to display the javascript I have learned this semester and was within the bounds of what I could realistically create.
