For ‘The Way Gnome’ I worked on 3D models, textures, lighting, rigging, animation, concept art, storyboarding, scripting, and editing. I worked on a small team for each step of the process from conceptualization to final product. The project was a challenge because it required each team member to demonstrate a wide range of skills in 3D animation and video production. Our team came up with the concept for our film, scripted it, divided the assets and animations between the members, and then collaborated to finish the editing. I also created a sound script to go alongside the storyboard to make it easier for the editors to find the different sound bites needed.

The images above are from over the course of the production of the film. The first image is a section of the initial storyboards I made for the film. The next image is of all the completed gnome models the four team members made independently imported into the same scene for the first time to see if all models were cohesively sized and styled. The third image is a still taken from a portion of the film I animated and rendered. The final example is the final version of the film.

Initial concept art for short film 'The Way Gnome'

First Gnome Concept Art

This is a design concept for the gnomes I made during our initial discussions. We wanted something that would serve as the base for all of our gnomes, simple with room for customization. Later, a slightly more clean design would be done to serve as the reference for the base model we would all be working from.

Models Joined in Scene

This is a screenshot taken of when the gnome models were first implemented into the same scene as all other assets we had made. The gnomes would need to be scaled down, but from this base scene we would all create our animated segments.
