The Arctic Monkeys

About the Monkeys

The Arctic Monkeys are an indie and alternative rock band that formed in 2005 in Sheffield, Great Britain. The band consists of four members who were all high school friends; singer Alex Turner, drummer Matt Helders, guitarist Jamie Cook, and bass guitarist Andy Nicholson who later departed from the group due to medical reasons and was temporarily replaced by Nick O' Malley, later becoming a permanent member.

With their two singles, "I Bet You Look Good on the Dancefloor" and "When the Sun Goes Down" they rose to popularity and fame thanks to the help of social media and online message boards in 2006. They have since became one of the most famous 21st century rock band to come out of Great Britain.

The Arctic Monkeys have released six studio albums, three extended plays, and twenty-three singles. Alex Turner who is the frontman, singer, lead guitarist and songwriter of the group at the same time was also part of a side project/collaboration called "The Last Shadow Puppets" with The Rascal's Miles Kane from the years 2007-2016.
